Six Weeks Later.

Jun growled with frustration as his owl returned with the letter that he had sent to Nino. It had been six weeks since he had seen the half-Veela and he hadn’t heard anything of him since. Satoshi had given him bits and pieces of information while he had still been in school, but as soon as he had left for home he had been cut off and all his letters had been returned unopened. He had expected that, Nino had told him that his Grandmother’s house was unplottable, but he had hoped that Nino would be somewhere he could reach. He growled again stroking the birds feathered head wishing that it was Nino’s. He turned to walk out the attack that served as the family owlery and was surprised by his elf Flopsy standing by the entrance.

“Master Jun you is wanted by youse mother” Flopsy told him gently her comforting elf magic washing over him and Jun chewed on his tongue.

“Thank-you, Flopsy” Jun smiled at the elf who smiled in return her huge eyes glittering with happiness as she bobbed up and down. The bow bobbing up and down on her bald head. Her father often accused her of being a disgrace to elf kind, but Jun thought she was the perfect example of how an elf should be. She served, not because she was bound to him, but because she wanted to. For a while she had been his only friend in this house and he loved her dearly.

“You is welcome Master Jun…” She said looking as though she was about to leave, and he remembered that she could appear anywhere that she wanted.

“Flopsy, your magic can take you anywhere can’t it? Through wards?”

“Yes, Master Jun” Flopsy looked a little uncertain now and she started pulling on her ear her lower lip trembling. Jun ignored the look as excitement curled up inside of him and he crossed the owlery to hold her by her shoulders.

“Then could you find Nino for me?” He asked, and the little elf looked apologetic as she shook her head pulling more quickly at her ear. “Why not?”

“Nino master is asking Flopsy not to, master Jun, Flopsy went to Nino Master this morning sir! But he is saying that he will see Master Jun at Hogwarts” The elf squeaked and Jun’s mouth dropped open before he moved and pulled his elf close. “Youse is happy now Master Jun?”

“Yes! Thank-you Flopsy. Why didn’t you say anything earlier?”

“Because Flopsy is wanting to surprise Master Jun and making him happy!” The elf answered, and Jun smiled kissing the top of the bald head. He hadn’t known the results of the lottery, as the headmaster had said they were to be told by letter the results and Jun had only received word that morning. He had been almost happy; his parents had agreed without argument that he could attend the exchange telling him that it was a great honour but without knowing about Nino and if he had been accepted. Now he knew, and he could find happiness that he would be going to the school he had read so much about.

“Thank-you Flopsy, you have made me very happy, now I should go and see my parents” Jun almost sang walking passed the grinning house elf before running out of the attic and down the long passage to the stairs. This half of the house was of western design, large and sweeping, with dark wooden features and dark painted walls. It was his father’s favourite part of his house, but it was his most hated part. It smelt musty and it was too dark for his liking, he much preferred the other half which was lighter and filled with flowers that his mother had made up.

Sadly, he found his parents in the large drawing room. His father sitting behind a desk and his mother beside a fire sewing with her feet resting upon a small footstool. He moved to press a kiss to her cheek and she gave him a smile her head cocking ever so slowly to one side.

“Hello, you are looking much happier my child” She said taking his hand and squeezing it between her fingers and Jun smiled his brow lifting in confusion. He had hoped that he had been keeping his mood from his parents, but clearly, he hadn’t been able to keep it as well disguised as he would like.

“Haven’t I always been happy?”

“Not since you returned from school. We thought that maybe you did not want to be here” His father growled from his desk. Jun kept his smile in place turning to look at his father knowing that the man must never suspect how much he loathed being here in his presence.

“I must apologise, I was uncertain of my placement at Hogwarts and it effected my mood” He whispered softly hoping that he hadn’t been called so that his dream could be taken away from him. His father gave a grunt and shuffled around some papers on his desk before offering him one of them.

“You will have to send this to your headmaster. It is your permission form. Signed by your mother and myself. Your mother will be taking you to London next week to buy the things that you will need” The man told him, and Jun took the paper hardly daring to believe that it was real. “Your friend Ninomiya will also be there, his father asked for us to take him and his mother with us”

“Thank-you, father” Jun whispered softly his eyes almost shining as he looked at the man. He still disliked him, but he had to admit he was being nicer than he could ever have imagined. He would see Nino in a week and he would ask him why he hadn’t sent even a message in the weeks that he had been away from him. “Mother”

“You are to return for summer holidays, your mother will miss if you stayed…”

“Of course, I will father, there was never doubt about that” Jun replied only half-heartedly, there had never been any intention of staying in the UK throughout the summer holidays, but he was happy enough just knowing that Nino would be with him throughout the school year. “May I go? I want to send out this permission slip”

“Yes, but dinner will be in fifteen minutes” His father told him in a soft growl and Jun bowed kissing his mother again before turning and running out of the room feeling happier than ever that soon he would see Nino again.
