MatsuMiya and the Hogwarts exchange programme part 7

“Nino?” Jun whispered softly as soon as they were alone. The half-veela had frozen into place on the chair beside him and he desperately wished that he could comfort him. Gently he knelt in front of his friend reaching out to take the man’s hand. Nino looked at him with blank eyes and then bit hard on his lower lip.

“I have to get ready”

“You need to calm down first” Jun told him, but Nino shook his head getting up and hurrying around the room. His hair was in disarray from a mass of feathers that had formed under his hair. Jun watched him carefully not wanting to disturb him but knowing that he wasn’t doing anything but getting stressed. “Nino, sit down and let me get you some clothes”

“I can do it” Nino hissed his hands scratching through his hair pulling at feathers that weren’t ready to come out. Jun shook his head and crossed over the room and caught the smaller man in his arms. Nino fought him for a moment and then sagged his whole body shaking as he started to cry. “I should have read his letters. I should have gone to her sooner”

“You didn’t know, if your father wanted you to get the message he should have sent it to somebody else. It was clear that he knew that you would burn his letters” Jun breathed into the other man’s ear and Nino breathed out a long sigh turning around in his arms and wrapping his arms around him tightly. His face pressed into his shoulder and Jun held him tightly rocking him from side to side as he cried openly. It was the first time Jun had witnessed the half Veela crying and he was at a loss as to what to do but he continued to stroke his back gently. Once the tears had settled Jun led his friend back to the chairs by the fire. “Sit down, Nino, I’ll get you a drink and then sort you some clothes out”

“I will need to find Niji, he won’t be happy if I leave him and he was a gift from Grandmama” Nino breathed shakily, and Jun gave a smile. He could barely tolerate the half wolf, but he knew that Nino loved him, and he was a great comfort and if that was what Nino needed he would be happy to find him. “He should be outside in the courtyard”

“I’ll get Flopsy to call him but first, let’s get you a drink and let me sort out your clothes” Jun hummed flicking his wand and summoning his own family house-elf. Flopsy had been his nanny elf when he was young and had asked to follow him to school when he had joined full time. The elf proudly wore a blue dress with a ribbon around her ear. Jun had accidently freed the elf when he was a child with the outfit she was wearing but she had wanted to stay with them all the same.

“You is calling for us Master Jun?” Flopsy asked with a bow of her head her bow bobbing up and down.

“Could you get Nino a sweet drink and then look for Niji. Nino thinks that he will be in the courtyard. But get him the drink first.” Jun to the elf fondly and Flopsy gave a dramatic bow before vanishing with a click of her long fingers.

“I wonder what it is about you that makes creatures go ga-ga over you” Nino chuckled, some of his old personality coming through at the crack of the elf’s magic. Jun laughed but moved to Nino’s cupboard pulling out Nino’s favourite non-uniform robe. It was a soft mustard yellow colour. Nino wore it on the days that they were allowed out but right now Jun didn’t think that they would be appropriate for visiting a sick woman. He pushed the robe back into the cupboard and pulled out a more sombre robe of dark blue. “I’m sorry, JayJay. I didn’t mean to fall apart”

“You don’t have to apologise, Nino, I know how much you love your grandmother” Jun murmured turning to look at the boy who seemed to have shrunk. The feathers were still poking through his hair and Jun felt his heart break for him. “I just wish that I could be of more help”

“You are the best help possible. I guess that this means I won’t be able to go on the exchange. I know that it’s not the best time to be thinking of this, but I can’t help but…I’m horrible”

“You’re not horrible, Nino, this is just a very difficult time. But I don’t see how…You might still be picked, Nino, and your father said that Satoshi would let you take your exams when you can” Jun assured him expanding his bag and placing Nino’s clothes inside. There was a crack and Flopsy appeared inside the room carrying a goblet with Nino’s favourite drink inside.

“Thank-you Flopsy”

“Nino-master is okay, Niji will be coming soon!” Flopsy said with another little bow before she vanished with another crack. Nino sipped at the drink and sighed pressing his head into the back of the chair allowing himself to relax before he let out a long breath and got up again.

“I should get going. I’ve already delayed long enough” Nino breathed finishing the drink and putting the cup down where it vanished in the blink of an eye. Jun came to the other teen and held him gently, his hands on his shoulders. “I’m gonna miss you, JayJay”

“Don’t sound like you’re saying goodbye. We will see each other again soon” Jun breathed before covering Nino’s mouth with his own in a searing kiss. His arms wrapped around him tightly and his eyes closed feeling only Nino’s lips on his. He didn’t want it to be a goodbye, but he could feel a heavy lingering air around them both pressing down on him in a way that caused him to breathe sharply. Nino pulled out of the kiss first and gave him one last look before running out of the room.

“Don’t follow me, okay, JayJay? Don’t follow me…” He asked and wordlessly Jun nodded watching him leave with his eyes clouding over with his own tears. The door magically shut behind the other teen and he sank down onto the floor holding himself tightly almost sure that he had seen the last of his little half-veela.

Jun is so sweet and Nino was right when saying Jun is loved by creatures...just not the animals XD.

Someone tell our J that although animals don't like him much, he may have better luck with creatures, let's not forget he was once told that the Pegasus represented him XD
