krystalkatzficz“Caught you” Satoshi laughed grabbing a hold of Nino’s arm and tugging him back into his body. The action caused him to slip on the ice hidden in the snow and fall back. Refusing to let him fall on his own Satoshi came down with him shielding him with his body his arms wrapping around his slighter frame. Nino let out a laugh pushing himself up with his red, chilled, chilled hands on Satoshi’s chest, so he was gazing down at the older, handsome man. The mirth left his face as he realised the position they were in and quickly Satoshi recovered himself getting up and pulling Nino with him. “We should go in and warm up, I don’t think the doctor would be amused if I had to call him for suspected frost bite”
“Perhaps not. But I had fun tonight…” Nino admitted with a chuckle as an arm was thrown around him again and he was guided back towards the house and Satoshi nodded with a soft sigh humming;
“Me too, I’ve never played tag in my life before”
“I didn’t think you would have, which was why I made you, we both did something we’ve never done before tonight. Where did Masaki get to? He normally joins in with this kind of thing” Nino chuckled looking around for his friend, glad that he hadn’t joined in the game but worried that he had gone too far away from the house in the dark.
“He headed back in about fifteen minutes ago. You were hiding behind a bush…” Nino flushed just a little knowing that he had been acting like a complete child, but Satoshi had joined in and they had both had fun. There was no harm in that.
“Oh, right…Well, I guess I should wash the dishes while you make up the bottles. If we’ve gotta go into work tomorrow, we should head to bed”
“Yes, we should” Satoshi agreed with a wistful nod and Nino wondered if his boss was wishing that they could have another day or two out here. Here it was easy to forget that Satoshi was his demon boss and he could make him into some cute guy he had met and liked but he didn’t know if he would be able to manage that in the office tomorrow. He didn’t want to be confused again.
Entering the house, they were both happy to find that the dishes used had already been washed, dried and stacked on the side with a note in Masaki’s handwriting stating he didn’t know where everything went so he was sorry. It took five minutes to put everything back where it had been and when he had finished Nino found Satoshi standing in front of the picture of his sister. He seemed to be whispering softly to it and Nino felt another pang of sadness inside that Satoshi probably hadn’t talked about his sister to anyone other than perhaps Sho.
“She was a very pretty girl. If our baby is a girl. Will you name her after your sister?” He asked quietly coming to stand beside his boss who shook his head slowly.
“I thought about it briefly but decided against it. As touching as it would be I don’t want our child to be living with the shadow of her name.” Satoshi answered; and the reasoning made a lot of sense to Nino. It was possible that the girl would have grown up thinking she was just a replacement. “I had…I had perhaps thought about naming the child after you, Kazuko for a girl…”
“My mum’s name was Kazuko, I was named after her”
“That was before…When I didn’t think I had a…Well, we have nine months to think of a name, Kazunari, we can think of something that is truly and uniquely their own” Satoshi coughed awkwardly and then hurried over to the bottled where they were being warmed in a device. Nino blinked with confusion his cheeks flushing as he realised that Satoshi had toyed with that name when he had thought there was no chance for them as a couple and that he would be raising the baby alone. It touched him deeply to think that and he tried his hardest not to flush brightly when Satoshi turned back to him. “Are you ready?”
“Yeah…Yes!” Nino answered taking two of the very small bottles and then heading over to the puppies in their little basket. He had thought that they were asleep, given how quiet they were being, but he soon saw that they were rolling and tumbling playing with each other’s ears. They appeared to notice their presence, or perhaps the presence of the milk, and all turned to look at them their voices growing louder. “Hey babies, we have your milk, Misha, Bingo…” He chuckled picking up the two smallest whom had probably captured his heart the most and placed them on his lap. Almost immediately the little dogs latched onto the rubber nipples and started drinking their little tails swinging from side to side as their little paws twitched.
“Misha and Bingo? Do the others have names?”
“I haven’t thought of any yet…You should name those two” Nino announced carefully pointing to the remaining two puppies and Satoshi barely had to think about it before saying;
“Very well…Rupert and Pippin”
“Rupert?”
“I was fond of the British children’s books when I was young. Rupert the little bear. I always wanted a dog named Rupert and he looks like a Rupert” Satoshi defended his choice boldly plucking the dog from the basket and holding it up to the light a huge smile on his face as its tongue slipped out of his mouth and he yawned. “See, very much a Rupert”
“And Pippin? Like the Lord of the Rings?”
“Perhaps but there was also a character in Rupert called Pippin” Satoshi shrugged as though he didn’t know what the Lord of the Rings was, and Nino rolled his eyes but chuckled looking at the two dogs and mulling over their names.
“Misha, Bingo, Rupert, and Pippin…They have a strange collection of names” He laughed gently stroking the backs of his two while Satoshi did the same. “I think our baby might be in a lot of trouble…”
“Oh! I didn’t think of that, I could call the baby Rupert if it was born male” Satoshi said in an almost serious tone and Nino’s mouth fell open in horror.
“No! No way!” He hissed even though he could tell that Satoshi was straining to stop himself from laughing. “Ohno Rupert? It sounds horrible! You can’t inflict that on a child!”
