krystalkatzficz“Thanks, Ki, you are the best friend I could hope for” He said popping the little brown pills into his mouth. Ohno’s eyes moved over his neck as he swallowed, and Nino was almost positive that his eyes dilated, only it was only a flicker and just for a moment.
“Back at you Nino-chan! Ohno-san! I hope you have a really great evening! You both deserve it!” Masaki enthused looking at their boss and Nino was surprised by the genuine surprise that appeared on his boss’ face. It was as though nobody had ever said a kind word to him before and he even inclined his head.
“Thank-you, I’m surprised you would think so”
“Eh? The way you defended Nino-chan from Ketomi! I don’t know what you said but he ran from the building like his arse was on fire!” Masaki let out a loud laugh and Nino was immediately thrown back to the conversation that he had heard and the fact that Sho had made it sound more like an attack. He would have thought that his boss would be uncomfortable but Ohno merely shrugged his shoulders.
“It was more physical than words, if he has ever said anything to make you feel uncomfortable, Aiba-san then I suggest you file a report”
“It’s fine, I tone it out! Anyway! Have a good night! Enjoy yourselves!” Masaki said again as Nino passed him the now empty glass. Ohno nodded again and then moved to open the door holding it open for Nino to pass. Their door led directly outside and Nino was glad that he had chosen to wear the grey parker Masaki had brought for him. The snow which had been threatening earlier had landed and settled on the streets giving everywhere a white appearance. Even as a child Nino had never been fond of snow, it was too cold, too wet, and it never stayed pretty for long. His mother had dragged him out forcing him to have snowball fights and make snowmen, but he had never enjoyed it.
“You don’t like snow?” Ohno asked as they made their way down metal stairs that had been cleaned and salted to prevent anyone slipping. Nino blinked in surprise and then flushed brightly wondering if he had said his thoughts aloud.
“Uh? Did I say that out loud?”
“No, but you have a very disproving expression on your face” Ohno let out a chuckle and Nino frowned wrinkling his nose disapprovingly as he side-stepped a large pile of snow that might have been the beginnings of a snowman.
“You like snow?”
“I do; indeed, I like it very much…” The answer Ohno gave was surprising. He had imagined a man like Ohno preferring warmer weather where things ran smoothly and efficiently.
“Yeah, I guess it’s pretty around your house…In the city though its not so pretty”
“You will judge for yourself this weekend, I think the snow will linger until then”
“Urgh! Don’t say that!” Nino growled his feet already freezing through the shoes and thick soaks he was wearing. His stomach fluttered with nerves at the reminder he would be moving in with Ohno that weekend. It still felt unreal at the moment, he hadn’t even thought about packing, though most of his stuff was still in boxes from his move into Masaki’s apartment. “It will make it hard to move if it is…”
“I will hire a van. So, which is your favourite season? Summer?” Ohno asked leading him towards a car that was sat with the engine running and a driver sitting in the seat. The man hopped out of the car when they approached, and Nino was left feeling a little awkward as the back door of the car was opened for him and the man bowed his head to him. He sat on the plush seat and waited for Ohno to come in behind him.
“Wrong! Summer is far too hot! I like autumn, it’s just the right kind of cold and the trees look so pretty with the golden and red leaves…” Nino hummed and then thought about the large windows that over looked the lake at Ohno’s hose. “I bet that’s nice to see from your house too…”
“It is. I brought the lake and land because of Autumn. Or rather because it was a great place to watch the seasons and mark the passage of a year” Ohno nodded with a hum resting his hand against the window of the car and Nino got the feeling he didn’t want to talk anymore, so he was surprised when Ohno cleared his throat and asked; “How long have you known Aiba?”
“Almost my whole life, he was my first friend when I started school and he’s been my friend ever since”
“I see, I thought Matsumoto…”
“Jun? He’s my friend now but as a child he was a right spoilt brat, we never spoke unless it was to fight with each other. I think we were more like brothers than friends”
“And that changed when you grew up and became attractive?” Ohno asked and Nino was surprised that his boss had decided to say that he was attractive. He couldn’t believe it himself. He always thought he was rather plain and uninteresting to look at. Even Ketomi had said that Masaki was the attractive one.
“…I think it’s more that he grew up…I dunno, I can’t really remember when his insult of brat became a pet name” He muttered his cheeks burning a little at the strange compliment and Ohno let out a small hum his fingers tapping against the car door before he said;
“I still find it difficult to believe that you haven’t…Been intimate”
“Well you can start believing it. Jun asked me out once and I rejected him…” Nino announced remembering the day well. He had often wondered if he should have agreed but he knew that they would never have made each other happy.
“It sounds like a habit with your family…”
“You are going to say something about my mum again you can stop the bloody car…”
“No, not at all, I was impressed. A lot of people would have thought both the Matsumoto’s to be a good catch” Ohno told him and Nino gave a shrug while nodding along he knew a few people who would have been happy with Jun asking them “Both are good looking and successful”
“Good looks and success are meaningless if you can’t be happy”
