I’m sure you’ll think of something, if you really want to” Ohno hummed in a bored way rolling his shoulders before looking down at his nails and Nino growled folding his arms over his chest and spitting out;
“I don’t”
“Not even for vast sums of money?” Ohno raised a single eyebrow his thumb paused from where it had been scratching imagined dirt from his middle finger and Nino wanted to spit in his face. His cheeks grew warm with anger over embarrassment as he thought about the money Ohno had tried to give him after their night together. He really wished the earth didn’t spin every time he moved so that he could really give the man a piece of his mind. He had never been much of a fighter, unless he was forced, but he knew how to throw a punch and right now he wanted to punch Ohno directly on the nose.
“You really think that everyone can be brought, don’t you?” He hissed and again there was a lazy roll of the shoulders as his head inclined in the smallest of nods humming;
“I’ve never met anyone yet that has proved me wrong”
“Well now you have, congratulations. I’m not a fucking oven that you can rent whenever it pleases you. Even if the laws of the land are screwed up, it’s my body” Nino spit his temper flaring more than ever as he wondered how he could be so frigging cold and unfeeling.
“…Okay, Ninomiya, I’ll bite, if not money what would you want to convince you to let me have the child?” Ohno asked and once more Nino felt the air be forced out of his body.
“What?”
“If money can’t tempt you, what will?”
“Nothing…I don’t want anything…” Nino answered softly surprised at the question. He hadn’t expected it, though he supposed that he should have known Ohno would try another tactic to convince him. It was clear that he desperately wanted a child, though Nino couldn’t understand why he needed this one. “Couldn’t you just go to a clinic for a child?”
“I could but why should I? You’re already pregnant and I know more about you than I would any other bearer…”
“You know nothing about me…”
“I know that you’re a hard worker, though you lack any real drive and ambition and refuse to do more work than you absolutely have to. In short you’re lazy and unmotivated but when you do work you are skilled enough that I am sorry that you said you would be leaving” Nino’s mouth dropped open in complete surprise at the statements that came pouring out of Ohno’s mouth. It wasn’t completely flattering but it was more than he ever expected to hear from the man. “You’re popular in the office but have very few real friends. When you’re in the centre of attention you can make the entre room laugh but you rarely if ever seek to be the centre. You’re attractive enough when you smile but I’ve only seen that once or twice from afar” Ohno looked uncertain for a moment, at least Nino was sure that was what the look that passed over the man’s face was. It wasn’t something he had ever seen on his boss before, but it was as though he was unsure if he should have said that and he cleared his throat loudly “You have a quiet sort of fire inside you and you are one of the few people in the world that is not intimidated by me”
“Wrong, I’m very fucking intimidated by you…” Nino muttered a shocked laugh escaping his mouth and he was almost positive that Ohno very nearly smiled before he rolled his shoulders again saying in his normal monotone voice;
“Then you do a good job of hiding it. Is that enough Ninomiya or are you hoping for more?”
“No, that’s more than enough. It’s still not enough to decide that you want a child with me” Nino mumbled not knowing what to think anymore. His head was light and woozy and all of his earlier fight had gone at the strange sincerity that he knew was in Ohno’s face and voice at the fact he wanted the baby.
“Perhaps not to some but it is more than enough for me. If I were asking you to marry I suppose that I would need more but…”
“You don’t want me, you just want the child, I know” Nino rolled his eyes, almost tempted to put his hands over his ears so he didn’t have to hear the blunt rejection again. It was strange but even if he hated his boss more than anyone he had ever personally met. It was harsh to know that he didn’t desire him or see him as anything more than a baby oven.
“…Would you want me to want you?”
“N-No…Of course not…”
“Then stop pouting about it. Ninomiya, let me say just one thing. You are the kind of person that would feel guilty for getting rid of the child” Ohno’s voice was soft as he said that, and Nino felt his heart flutter knowing that he was right. Even if he hated Ohno and wanted Even if you don’t think so now, you are far too nice a person to feel anything but that…Let me take that pressure away from you”
Nino gnawed on his lower lip for longer than he had ever done before. His mind was spinning in a way that had nothing to do with the sickness from the child. It was impossible for him to agree, or at least it should be, but for some reason the image of the tender expression on Ohno’s face when he had talked about his sister kept popping into his mind and he wondered if the baby was more than just an heir to Ohno. He shouldn’t agree, Ohno would just treat him like rubbish again soon, but he knew that he was going to and he sighed nodding ever so slightly.
“…Okay…But…I have some conditions…”
“I told you, I would give you as much money as you…”
“No! Not money! Stop! I’m not going to sell you the baby! My first condition is…You are not allowed to try and give me money…” Nino growled his fists clenching as his eyes narrowed considering the round face. “My second condition is…I don’t want to be cut out of the life of my child all together. I will give you custody but…I want to be able to visit…”
“…Very well, so long as you will agree that it is up to me how I raise the child?”
“Yes” Nino agreed weird butterflies circling around in his stomach thinking how much this had become like a business meeting.
