 “You and your werewolf are fighting” Sho announced needlessly as he swept up behind him. Satoshi gave a growl and turned to look at the prince. Sho had always been blunt and to the point but even this was ridiculous. He wanted to snarl and punch the prince that had decided to put Nino into so much danger but instead he clenched his hands tight and said simply;

“It’s your fault, you’re the one who put the idea into his head”

“Yes” Sho admitted with a nod looking completely non-phased by the anger he could no doubt see in his face. As a child Sho had often come to him for advice and moral guidance. The hypothetical weight of the crown was as uncomfortable on his head as it had been on his, but Satoshi knew that when the time came Sho would make a better King than he would ever had. “I know you’re angry at me, but when you have time to think about it you’ll realise that this is the best plan”

“Oh? How do you imagine that?” He asked his voice icy cold and chipped as his eyes flashed with blue ice. His hand twitched, the rush of untapped and untamed power flaring through him, he wanted to punch him again and he knew that it had to be the addition of Nino’s power inside him. It was the part of the bond he was most uncomfortable with. He had never been one to lose his cool, he had always been tight reined, often to the point of people thinking he was indifferent, but now he was finding himself having to check himself.

“We can end the war without further violence, Nino may be able to have something of his father back.” Sho was infuriatingly calm and Satoshi wanted to curse wondering how he could be so calm while he was bubbling away with anger. It wasn’t fair, and he punched himself in the leg to try and relieve some of the pressure that was inside of him. A part of him knew that Sho was right but it didn’t make him feel any better. “If we did it the other way he would have to murder his father and you mine, though I do think you will still have to challenge my father”

“Of course, as always you expect me to do your dirty work” Satoshi spat with more anger than he would have otherwise had, and he was somewhat satisfied with the way the younger vampire flinched back away from him. He had never wanted to rule, never enjoyed the idea of commanding an army. He had only wanted peace and the freedom to do as he liked. His attitude may, to some, have been selfish and perhaps it was but he had never claimed to be perfect. As a child Sho had always wanted to hear stories of his battles, of the werewolves he had fought of the humans that had scorched the sky. In a small way, it was the same with Nino, but his little lover wanted stories of peace and of the stars. For all the power he held Nino was the one most like him.

“Because you are the only one with the power to challenge my father. You let my grandfather win that time” Sho said, it was the same thing he had said time and time again when it had been his duty to train the young princeling in preparation for the life he had led. Of course, he was talking about the challenge he and his grand-father had taken part in. The only way a member of the royal family could be forced to retire. It had been a fierce battle lasting for many days but in the end Sho’s grand-father had stepped forth as the winner. Most vampires had forgotten that there had ever been another royal family. Satoshi had gotten his peace for only a few short years before war broke out and he had found out his peace had cost millions of lives. “I know you regret it…”

“I think you’re a little old to be continuing your idolisation of me. I am not somebody to look to as a hero, Sho, I never have been” He spat remembering the fear that had been in Masaki’s face as they had walked through the dead city. He had done that, he had sacrificed the lives of everyone for his own peace.

“The weight of power was terrifying I know it, but you…You could…”

“I could do nothing, I never wanted to rule I would never have been good at it…” Satoshi muttered trying to force away the images of Masaki’s face as he looked at the taller vampire. Sho was much readier to be a king than he ever was. Despite his many faults he had the brains and compassion to be a great leader.

“So, you lost your match and we lost the best king we could ever have hoped for” Sho continued to push and Satoshi let out a growl punching out with his left hand. It was his weaker hand but the power that was behind it wasn’t his own and Sho was soon sent flying towards the nearest bookshelf. Already injured from his fight with Nino he was unable to defend himself from the force of the punch and Satoshi remembered too late that Nino was more capable with his left hand than he was his right There was an apology forming on his lips, but he bit it down as Sho said “When I am made king I will only rule for three days. They know that I am a weakling…”

“You’re not weak, you just never apply yourself”

“I have no will to be king, I’m happy here within the library and people will know that”

“So, you’re blackmailing me now?” Satoshi muttered losing some of the will to fight as he acknowledged the truth of that statement. While his father was alive he was safe and so was the ruling line but, the people were tired and angry, and it would only take one challenge to kill or injure Sho.

“I’m merely stating a fact. Nobody could beat my father, but they will be able to beat me. I know you regret what has happened since losing. How have you been enjoying your peace?”

“So, if you wish for me to fight your father why do we need to convince him that Nino’s father is desperate?”

“Because like Nino I want something of my father left at the end. You don’t have to agree straight away, but think it through Satoshi…” Sho hummed before walking away and leaving him alone to deal with the confused, hot thoughts that were swirling around his head. He was only alone for a few minutes before Nino came to him asking;

“If you were the prince, how are you only a general now?”

Whoah!!!! Ohno should just take back his position. It’s kind of a win-win situation. He just needs to challenge Sho’s old man. Hmmm and Sho has a point.. I really really hope, Ohno will do it so that Nino will be safe... well... another is that the war might end once Ohmiya get the throne.
Next chapter please~ xD
