My Family part 16
Nov. 2nd, 2017 11:58 amAt the sound of his voice the woman looked up and around. Even from this distance Sho could see that her face stretched into a smile and she frantically began to wave her hand at him before slowly coping her son’s weird little jump while shouting;
“Masaki!”
“Mama!” Masaki shouted again before taking off and running towards her his arms outstretched. Sho chuckled under his breath used to the actions of the pair by now and he risked a glance at his nephew and saw he was staring in shock as though he couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing.
“It surprised me too, they are always like this” He hummed moving closer to the boy and taking his hand in his. Masaki did it so easily, though it was still strange for him, but he knew that his feelings weren’t the ones that mattered right now. Kazu needed all the reassurance he could get, and he had to be one of those that gave it to him. He looked back at his lover and saw he had reached his mother now and was throwing his arms around her in a tight hug as she did the same. “They aren’t like us…With a son like Masaki you knew the parents would be open ne?”
“…I guess…” Kazu whispered his hand unconsciously clenching around his and Sho squeezed it back slowly.
“They will love you, Kazu” He told his nephew before picking up the pace to join his lover and the person he would happily think of as his mother-in-law. The two Aiba’s were still hugging and talking at a rapid pace when they finally reached them and Sho chuckled again before waving at Masaki’s mama “Hey, Mama” He said slowly the name coming awkwardly off his tongue. The woman always insisted he call her mama, but it was strange for him given how little he liked his own birth mum. He did smile broadly though and accept the hug that she gave as she said;
“This is a wonderful surprise! You never told me you were coming”
“You know your son and how spontaneous he can be”
“Yup! Gets it all from me!” She answered proudly, satisfaction in her smile, before she turned her attention to Kazu who was trying his best to both hide behind his legs and not look afraid at the same time. Neither were working out for him and Sho pitied him a lot. He had experienced the same feelings himself when he had first been introduced to Masaki’s parents. His mother had accepted him almost immediately, but Masaki’s father had been extremely intimidating. Gently he placed a hand on Kazu’s back and gently moved him forwards. “Who is this cutie?”
“My nephew, Ninomiya Kazunari” Sho hummed feeling Kazu stiffen under his fingertips. His whole body seemed to be trying to press as far as he could into his body and Sho felt another pang of sympathy for the boy. Masaki was gentle as he moved forward and placed his hand on Masaki’s head gently rubbing his hair.
“Kazu-kun for short! Isn’t he adorable? His hair looks just like Sho-chan’s!” He said gently almost seeming to stroke Kazu’s cheek. “He’s the reason that we came! He told me that he had never been to a beach before”
“Eh?! That’s no good! We shall have to take him!” Masaki’s mum cried out gently and Sho gave a smile. He had known that Masaki’s mother would join them on their trip. In fact, Masaki had said as much last night and Sho knew that while having both being warm and loving might be overwhelming for his nephew it was what he needed. He had needed it himself when he had first fallen in love with Masaki. “Well! I can’t have you call me, Mama, and I don’t want to be called aunty, so you might a well call me grandma. I’m Aiba Tamiko I am very pleased to meet you”
“I…Pleased to meet you Aiba-san…”
“Ah! I told you, call me grandma! I’ve waited for so long for somebody to call me that!” She smiled making herself eye level with the boy. Her mouth when it was smiling was almost the same as Masaki’s and she had the same youthfulness about her eyes which made it stranger to think she was somebody that actively wanted to be called grandma. His own mother loathed the term and even the very idea of being a grandmother though she suffered it as a necessary evil though she rarely spoke of her grandchild and often, in Sho’s hearing, said that she was waiting for a true grandchild.
“Grandma?”
“Yay! Thank-you!” Tamiko said happy stroking Kazu’s hair and flashing that same happy and loving Masaki smile. “You are really cute! But then you take after your uncle, ne? You have his colouring! Come on in. Your father will be wondering where I’ve got too”
“He probably heard Masaki from the train station, your son always seems louder when he gets home” Sho chuckled taking Kazu’s hand again and leading him inside as Masaki’s mum let out a warm laugh.
“My son has always been loud, though I think absolute happiness has increased the tone of his voice more than it ever was. Thank-you for always taking care of him”
“Masaki is always taking care of me, without him I would still be living on stale takeout food” Sho hummed sincerely refusing to allow anyone to diminish what Masaki had done for him. His life had almost been empty and colourless before Masaki had stepped into it and he knew that the same would be said for Kazu when his nephew realised that Masaki really did mean it when he said he wanted him to be loved and happy.
“We take care of each other, ne?” Masaki hummed happily his eyes shining with more love than Sho had ever thought possible. He had never even dreamed about the day somebody like Masaki would burst into his life. He wanted to reach out and take his hand and squeeze it in his own but before he could do that they had to speak to Kazu and tell him the truth of their relationship. “I’m back!”
“Oh great it’s baka-nii-chan and Sho-nii” Yusuke said with a smile pulling at his lips as they entered the family part of the restaurant and Sho gave the younger man a smile. Yusuke was more sedate than his mother or Masaki taking after his father in mood and looks but Sho saw that his eyes were warm as he looked at his brother before looking surprised as he saw the increasingly bewildered Kazu between them. “Mum, I think all your talk of children has gone too far, you’ve made Nii-chan kidnap a child”
“Hmph! I didn’t kidnap anyone, Kazu-kun is Sho-chan’s adorable nephew. Kazu-kun, this is my annoying baby brother Yusuke-kun, it’s completely okay if you ignore him, okay?”
“Masaki, that’s your brother you know?” A male voice hummed from by the door and all at once Masaki’s face spilt into huge happy smile again. “Welcome back, Masaki, Sho, and welcome Kazu-kun, you’re very welcome here…”
