for Princess Arashi I am sorry its not much
“Old man why did you bring me out in the cold?” Ninomiya Kazunari asked his breath coming out of his mouth in little white puffs like a dragon and his nose was as deeply red as a cherry tomato. His lover of the last five years was wrapped up as though he was about to go on an artic quest with only his nose and eyes visible underneath the mass of clothing that he was wearing. He was adorable though and he was tempted to kiss him on the nose and if he was sure that they wouldn’t stick together he would have done. Nothing but the uttermost love and devotion would have pulled him away from his video games and boy did he love his fussy old man. “Satoshi?”
“There’s a meteor shower tonight” Satoshi answered looking up to the sky leaving Nino to groan loudly stomping his feet quickly so his toes wouldn’t freeze and fall off. He loved the idea of meteors and he had told Satoshi that when he had been trying to seduce him because he knew that it was an interest the man had but he always imagined them falling in summer with lush green fields and flowers all around them not in the middle of the worse winter on record.
“You brought me out here to freeze my bollocks off because of some falling rocks in the sky?” He growled looking up at the sky himself gazing open mouthed in wonder at the sheer number of stars that he could see now they were away from the bright lights of the city. There were so many that it would be impossible for him to even guess at a figure but he suspected his old man knew all the constellations and even the names of some of the more noticeable ones.
Ohno Satoshi had always appeared as the town loon, when he was younger and more of an idiot Nino had been one of the teens that had made fun of the 26 year old that still lived with his mother and more often than not would be seen making his way up the field along the dirt track carrying more bags than he could manage and then Nino had met him in the library in town and found out that the silly little man that they made fun of was actually professor Ohno Satoshi leading astronomer who had had a break down after the tragic death of his lover.
Something had touched Nino core then and he had pretended to be interested in astronomy just to talk to him. At first Satoshi had barely noticed that he was there answering questions almost as though he were running on autopilot but eventually he started to focus on him. They had never dated, not as such, just talked and instead of people taking the piss of just Satoshi they started on him as well that was until he had very quickly stopped them by a few well-timed kicks and punches.
“It’s not just some rocks in the sky Kazu…On a night like tonight there could be hundreds”
“Hundreds hmm? Just think of how many wishes that would get you” Nino chuckled moving forward and wrapping his arms around the waist of his lover tightly or as tightly as one could with the thick coats that they were wearing. Satoshi seemed more at ease with the constrictions of the coats and snuggled up against him with his chin resting on what would have been his shoulder if he wasn’t doing a passable impression of a marshmallow man. “What would you wish for?”
“You can have my wishes Kazu, I have nothing that I need” Satoshi answered promptly leaving Nino to realise for the umpteenth time that Satoshi was well and truly in love with him and that there was nothing he wanted more. There had been the obvious doubts in his mind and Nino was sure that there would always be a part of Satoshi that loved his lover and he would never want to take that away from him.
“I love you, old man” Nino whispered surprising himself at how raw with emotions his voice sounded to his own ears and Satoshi chuckled squeezing him tightly before hissing;
“Look…Its starting!” Nino lifted his eyes back to the heavens and sure enough there was a darting of light across the inky black sky. It was chased by another and another Although he had been reluctant to come and stand in the snow the natural fireworks make it all worthwhile and before he knew it he was staring open mouthed at them as they darted by.
“There’s so many of them…” He breathed when he had been standing there agog for at least half an hour. His fingers and toes were numb but he didn’t feel like complaining. Satoshi was standing silently next to him and Nino was surprised at how excited he looked. He must have seen millions of things like that before at yet there was a shimmer in his eyes and a glow on his face which made him look like he was seeing them for the first time in his life.
“There is one you won’t be able to see with the naked eye…” Satoshi whispered turning to his advanced telescope which was already set up and Nino felt his eyebrows draw together just a little as he was guided over to the machine “Look through it should be passing overhead now” Satoshi told him and Nino did as he was told still feeling deeply confused as he did so. It didn’t take long for Nino to see what he was meant to. “It’s a recently discovered mini-comet. In fact, it was only named this year”
“How do you just discover a comet? More so one so close to earth? That’s like really worrying…” Nino muttered loving it when Satoshi gave a chuckle and pressed up behind him.
“I didn’t say I discovered it this year, I’ve been tracking it for some time that’s how I knew to be here tonight…I said that it was named this year…”
“You discovered it? When? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“It wasn’t just my discovery, for a while I felt awkward about sharing it with you” Satoshi whispered shadows forming in his eyes and instantly Nino’s excitement fizzled out a little knowing that Satoshi was talking about his former lover. “But when they asked me to name it I knew that I wanted you to know…”
“I’m sorry, you know that I wouldn’t have minded if you wanted it just between you and him…” Nino told him honestly knowing that if Satoshi hadn’t have said anything he wouldn’t have even known about the comet that was flying above their heads.
“I thought that, but you’re my lover to and it wasn’t right to keep it from you, more so when you think of the name…MatsuMiya…”
“You…Named it after both of us? But…You…It…It should have been just him…I would have understood old man!” Nino hissed blinking in amazement as an almost crumpled later was pulled out of Satoshi’s pocket and handed to him. It was basically just a confirmation of the name of the comet and the date and time of the discovery. Nino’s hands almost trembled as he saw the name in black and white meaning that it was official.
“Most people don’t even discover one comet, Kazu it would have been impossible of me to expect to find two and this way it is named after the two people I have been lucky to have love me. Jun wouldn’t mind…” Satoshi whispered looking almost doubtful of his choice and Nino wished that his eyes weren’t so frozen he could cry. “Is that okay with you?”
“Nobody has even named an animal after me before…And you name a comet? Um…That’s not going to destroy the earth one day, right?”
“It’s a none periodic one, it’s unlikely that the earth will ever even see it again, forever it will be moving through the universe…” Nino was genuinely surprised when he felt a tear slide down his cheek. There was still a part of him that thought that Satoshi should have just named it after Jun but he couldn’t deny that he was happy that he hadn’t.
“Giving the stars is meant to just be an expression, Old Man, you’re not actually meant to do it”
“It’s not a star” Satoshi smiled and Nino gave a growl pressing himself forward again and smashing his lips down onto his lovers. “You like it?”
“I love it! Thank-you…Thank-you so much…” Nino replied before moving back to the telescope his heart skipping a few more times as Satoshi pressed himself up against his back both of them watching comet MatsuMiya sore through he sky.
A/N: So I wrote this as a quick one shot but...I actually want to go deeper into their back story...>.< Urgh...Why am I never happy with one shots? Any-who...I know that comet discovery and naming is a lot harder than I portrayed here but I think for a story that's okay...
