a/n: prequel to my Over Time story...
“Why and how did I let that stupid sleepy older brother of mine talk me into this?” Ninomiya Kazunari asked the air from the side of the luxury cruise liner that he was unwillingly on. The ocean was calm and mostly peaceful and yet his stomach was twisting and turning as though it had been placed on spin in a washing machine. He had hated boats from almost the moment he born his mother said though the only time she had had any real proof was when he was four years old and had been so violently ill he’d ended up in hospital after being on a small river so it was strange that his brother was completely different.
Ohno Satoshi, his older half-brother from his mother’s first marriage, loved the water and always wanted to be beside it and then on it. Nino loved his brother, although they rarely saw each other due to Satoshi living with his father’s family, and always wanted to be as close to him as possible trailing after him which was why he was here now, he knew that, his brother had gotten his first ship as captain. Satoshi had asked, or rather pleaded with him, to be here on his first voyage and Nino had reluctantly agreed but so far, he hadn’t even seen the man for anything more than a handshake on arrival. “I wish I was dead…” He moaned his eyes closing as he pressed his face on the wooden rail as the boat rolled on the crest of a wave bringing him up and down in a slow swooping that had him almost keeling over until he felt a strong hand on his arm holding him up. “Ugh…What…”
“Steady on your feet” A warm voice purred against his ear and Nino blinked looking up into the eyes of his rescuer and his heart and his stomach switched places for a completely different reason than sea sickness. The man holding him was the stuff wet dreams were made of, with dark hair and eyes. His lips were twisted just a little giving a cute appearance and the mole on his lower lip was oh so kissable. “Don’t you have anything to fight against sea sickness?”
“No” Nino answered blinking just a little surprised at the rude familiarity from the other man as he quickly pulled himself out of his arms and stared at him with his mouth agape.
“Then why are you on a cruise? Unless your intention is to make yourself as sick as possible…”
“The captain is my elder brother. He asked me to be here…” Nino answered not completely sure why he was explaining himself to this good looking but arrogant man. The man’s eyes narrowed sharply into points as he searched him over.
“Shouldn’t you know to take medication?”
“I haven’t been on any kind of boat since I was a child, I didn’t know that I would still be sea sick…” Nino grumbled his head spinning again as the boat rolled over another wave that wouldn’t really have affected a normal person but for Nino it made him feel as though they had been completely spun around in the water. His cheeks puffed out and he turned spewing everything that he had down over the side. A hand moved surprisingly gently up and down his back encouraging him to get it all out.
“Then you’re an idiot” The strange helpful but stuck up stranger said softly with a ting of a chuckle in his voice which had another startling effect on Nino leaving him breathless and bewildered. It wasn’t something that he had ever experienced with just a chuckle before but he couldn’t say he didn’t like it. “All up? Then I should get you to the medic”
“The medic?”
“Unless you really enjoy being sick”
“Not really” Nino agreed surprised but allowing himself to be led over the deck and down to the stairs. There were elevators but he doubted the man wanted to be in a confined space with him and Nino wasn’t going to blame him for that. He swayed just a little as he was held to a chest that smelt sweet but with the tang that came with male musk meaning that although he was wearing after shave he hadn’t drowned himself in the stuff as some men were wanting to do. “You don’t strike me as the type of person that rescues people from bouts of sea sickness…”
“What can I say? You were interrupting my view of the ocean...” The man huffed almost hugging him close as the boat swayed a little and he gave a moan of near desperation his eyes closing as the dizziness “Actually your throwing up was getting in the way of my seduction”
“Ah…Sorry, too bad, I’m sure you could get her attention again” Nino mumbled deciding that he very much liked the scent of the man that was coming off him in waves. It was extremely calming the same way that the man was extremely hot any woman with a lick of sense would forgive somebody for helping someone in their time of need.
“His” His helper corrected softly causing Nino to wish that he had been on the receiving end of any seduction that the man might have been attempting even if he was a bit of a prat “And I doubt that I even had his attention in the first place”
“…Trust me any guy you’re interested in you had his attention…” Nino hummed irritated that the man chuckled at that his arm tightening around him, though he was even more shocked when he felt a puff of air against his ear and then soft words whispered into his ear;
“I shouldn’t think so, he was too busy being sick…Come on, through here, Nino…”
“…Who said you could call me Nino? How do you even…” Nino stopped walking turning on his heel and staring at the man that had casually used a nick name only his friends used.
“Matsumoto Jun…” The man smiled his lopsided smile again his expression becoming a whole lot softer than it had been a few moments before and Nino wondered why there was something so familiar and yet unrecognisable about the smile. “You don’t remember me, do you?”
“…No…I’m sorry…Should I?”
“You gave me your first kiss, in the tree house in your brother’s back garden…You made me swear not to tell Satoshi…”
“Junny? Little Junny from down the road?!” Nino cried his memory flooding back to him quickly. It had been the only complete summer that he had been allowed to spend with his brother. It had been too awkward for Satoshi’s dad and Nino couldn’t say that he blamed him. Junny, had been a friend of his brothers, something that had made Nino jealous at first but eventually he had realised that they had had quite a lot in common. For starters, they had both been exploring their sexuality and that had ended up with them both in the tree house in the middle of the night kissing each other very carefully and experimentally. That had been years ago however and Junny had been shorter and a whole lot scrawnier. His teeth had also been a little wonky and now they were perfectly straight in his mouth. Now that he knew however Nino had to acknowledge that the mole on his lower lip was the same and the one against his thick eyebrow. “It can’t be…You were tiny…”
“It was while ago, Nino, most people grow up…Though you look the same…” Jun laughed and Nino found himself flushing brightly as he tried to childishly stamp on his foot. “Satoshi said that you did but I didn’t believe him…”
“I…You…You moved away…Your parents took you to America…Not long after that summer…” Nino remembered slowly his memories of that time still hazy but growing clear with each moment. He had fallen in love with Jun in that summer. His first love was the man that was standing in front of him now and he genuinely couldn’t believe it, any more than he could believe that he was about to throw up again. “Ugn…Sorry…” He managed to mumble before bending double and emptying what was left of his lunch all over the floor and Jun’s shoes. “Oh God! I wish I were dead…I’m so sorry…”
“It’s okay, they’ll clean...” Jun hummed gently wrapping an arm around his waist again and propelling him forward as quickly as possible. “I can’t believe that you let Satoshi convince you to come on a ship, more so that you did without medication”
“I told you I haven’t been on any kind of boat since that summer, I didn’t know I would still get sick…I thought it would wear off…” Nino hummed flushing at the look Jun gave him. He couldn’t believe that little Matsumoto Jun had blossomed into the proud, sexy, confident man that was in front of him now. He himself had had an easy puberty with nothing really changing but Jun the transformation was as shocking as a caterpillar to a butterfly it seemed dramatically impossible. “Seriously, how are you here?”
“…I brought a ticket, I got a taxi to the docks…” Jun’s lips twitched into a smirk and Nino found himself batting him on the arm and growling;
“You know what I meant, how did you even know about Satoshi having a ship?”
“Facebook”
“You have Facebook…Satoshi has Facebook?” Nino asked his eyes disbelieving finding it difficult to imagine his brother near anything other than the shipping forecasts but it seemed that there were somethings about the man that he didn’t know.
“My company has a page, in here Nino” Jun hummed guiding him gently with his hand though Nino was positive that he wasn’t feeling as sick any more “I was making sure that everything was right one day and I decided to look up some of my old friends. I didn’t find you but I found Satoshi and I made a private account and sent him a message. He’s not very quick to reply but he did and we started talking again…”
“He never told me…”
“Would you have cared if he had?” Jun asked pausing again and peering down at him with so much intensity that Nino was sure that his breath had been knocked out of his lungs. How was it possible that Jun, his first love, had gotten to be so attractive? He’d often thought about him over the years wondering what he was doing and how he was but he never imagined seeing him again.
“Of course I would, we were friends right?” He hummed as casually as he could manage with his heart pounding in his ears Jun’s smile formed again before changing into something altogether more wicked as he breathed gently;
“We were more than friends Kazu, unless you kiss all your friends that way…”
“Only the really cute ones” Nino quipped back wishing that he hadn’t just spent the last half hour throwing up when Jun’s eyes moved down to his lips for just a moment.
“I really wish we’d met on land, I think I would have kissed you…” The taller man told him before surprising him and pressing a light kiss to his forehead. Nino wasn’t 10% sure what was going on but as of this moment he was looking forward to seeing where it was going. “Come on, in here…” Jun pushed the door to the medical room open and they were met by a smiling and friendly looking doctor.
“Can I help?”
“Sorry to bother you, but my boyfriend has chronic sea sickness…Is there anything that you can give?” Nino blinked slowly at the use of the word boyfriend wondering when exactly he had agreed to that, admittedly though he was very happy with it. The woman looked him over for a moment and then nodded motioning for him to sit down on a chair.
“You’re not the first since the cruise started so don’t worry…You’re not allergic to anything are you” She hummed and after Nino shook his head she took out a needle and little packet of clear liquid “This will take away the sickness that your feeling almost immediately then I suggest buying some patches that you put behind your ear, okay?”
“Um...yeah…Okay…” Nino agreed slowly eyeing the needle wearily until Jun grabbed hold of his hand and threaded their fingers together. The doctor gave a smile and walked over to them saying;
“This is best in your hip, lift your shirt a little” Nino did as he was told focusing on the warmth of Jun’s hand instead of the coldness of the antibacterial wipes that was being run over the fleshy part of his hip. “Hold still…” Nino tensed at the small stab of the need that went easily into his thigh but relaxed easily once it was done carefully taking his nails out of the back of Jun’s hand. “There you go, you should start feeling the effects soon, I suggest an early night maybe some TLC and the patches…You’ll be up and about in no time”
“Thank-you, sensei…”
“You’re welcome, I hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise…”
Jun helped him to his feet and then wrapped a secure arm around his waist again before the bowed at the doctor and head out of the room. It was weird how confidently Jun walked, even as they passed a steward that was cleaning up his accident from earlier, and he found himself pressing into his escorts side more and more as they walked.
“What was that about boyfriend?”
“You will be, I spent too long trying to find a way to get back into your life I should be at least allowed a chance to date you and see where it goes…” Jun shrugged and Nino wanted to laugh but his heart was moving far too fast for that. After all it wasn’t every day your walking wet dream and your first love were the same person and asking you to date them. If he wasn’t in so much pain from throwing up he would have convinced himself that he had passed out on the deck and this was all just a weird but wonderful dream. “Unless you’re already seeing somebody?”
“No, but…Don’t you live in America?”
“Not as of last week, I moved back to Japan to work in the Japanese branch of the company…So what do you say? Shall we see how it goes?” Jun asked and Nino gave a little shrug his heart in his ears before he nodded and smiled saying;
“Okay”
6 months later
“Why in God’s name did I let Nii-chan talk me into this?” Nino whined his stomach clenching as the boat swayed from side to side leaving him with the urge to run to the toilet and empty the contents of his stomach. After the last cruise, he had promised himself that he wouldn’t ever go on a ship again but somehow, someway, Satoshi had convinced him and Jun to marry on the ship where they had met again. It sounded romantic and it was sweet of Satoshi to arrange it but that didn’t help him when he was feeling like a sock in a spin dryer. “I wish I were dead…”
“No, you don’t…” Jun hummed coming quickly into the room and handing him two pills and a patch “Put those on and lay down for a bit, you’ll be fine in about half an hour. I can’t believe you didn’t take them before and please don’t tell me you forgot…”
“Maybe I just like that you take care of me…” Nino smiled allowing himself to be helped on to the bed and Jun chuckled warmly laying down beside him and lightly stroking his forehead with his thumb in a gentle sweeping motion back and forth.
“You don’t need to be sick so I can take care of you, Kazu, come on sleep, I’ll wake you up when its time…” Jun purred against his ear and Nino smiled rolling onto his side and wrapping an arm around his waist his face pressed into the warm chest. “I love you brat”
“I love you too, Junny…”

I was surprised that they met before when they were younger.
Hehe Nino didn't change and when Jun told him about it, he stamped on his foot, so cute!
I saw the mentioned of facebook Lol
I like that Jun immediately referred Nino as his boyfriend to the doctor Lol
That line "you don't need to be sick so I can take care of you Kazu" is so sweet, I went all aww and kyaa at that XD
