Satoshi smiled at his bonded knowing that, even if he didn’t understand it, Nino had won over Sho and Sho had accepted that defeat rather gracefully. The vampire bowed his head at the werewolf and Nino did the same in return before getting to his feet and marching around the comfortable home that he had been set up in the middle of the library. He wrung his fingers together for a moment and shrugged him off when he tried to touch him while smiling apologetically.

“I’m sorry, Satoshi, I’m still confused not knowing if I should tell Masaki the truth or not”

“Would it help him too know? Surely that would be crueller” Sho put in and Satoshi shivered as Nino growled his whole-body trembling with the force of it. Nino only seemed satisfied when Sho backed down his head hanging a little.

“Sorry, I’m in the presence of another prince” Nino whispered pulling at his fringe for a moment before casting a hard look at Sho his fists clenching just a little bit. “Battling with will and words is fine but it’s not really the werewolf way”

“And what is the werewolf way?” Satoshi asked though he suspected that he already knew the answer and he also suspected that he wasn’t going to like it very much. To his credit, Nino didn’t look overly thrilled about the idea either as he gave him another weak apologetic smile before running his fingers through his hair once again.

“Physical combat, of course. If I can prove that I’m physically stronger, then I will relax…Probably”

“You want to fight me?” Sho sounded almost pained at the idea and Satoshi could understand why. Sho was not a fighter none of the Vampire royals were. They were tacticians relaying on their brains more than their strength. They had an advantage over other Vampires but against werewolves they were at a disadvantage. As Nino, had already pointed out the werewolves led from the front and that meant that Nino would have been trained since birth in the art of combat.

“Right now, I want to rip your head off, but I suppose that sparring would be fine” Nino answered shortly rolling his shoulders in a shrug and Satoshi told himself that he should put a stop to it, Satoshi was his prince after all, but a small part of him was excited about what this puppy could do. “First one on the floor is the victor”

“As you’ve already pointed out I’m not a fighter” Sho said easily and Nino gave a shrug seemingly not caring about his lack of experience. His head cocked slowly to one side as he asked;

“But you were trained, weren’t you?”

“He was I trained him myself” Satoshi put in feeling only a little bit guilty when Sho made a strange noise in the back of his throat his eyes filled with a look of pure betrayal.

“You are meant to protect me”

“My bonded doesn’t want to hurt you, just spar, and it has been a long time since you practiced” Satoshi smiled trying hard to not have too much fun at the expense of the vampire prince but it was so funny to watch his eyes widened and his mouth open and close “If we are to go against the will of your father and the council, then I doubt that there is any reason that you shouldn’t learn to fight”

“I never said anything about going against…” Sho stop speaking immediately when his brain seemed to remind him that he was already going against the will of the council by having them here in the library “I brought you here only because of Masaki”

“Then there shouldn’t be a reason that you shouldn’t spar with Nino”

“You really shouldn’t be enjoying this so much Satoshi” Sho growled and Satoshi let out a laugh his hand going to touch the small of Nino’s back very lightly with just his fingers as he inclined his head in acknowledgment of the fact but admitted softly;

“Perhaps, but I am. I want to see what my puppy is capable of”

“Fine, I will spar but only until first to the floor”

“Agreed”
