The War part twenty
Feb. 17th, 2017 10:31 amSatoshi watched Nino carefully from the rear while making sure that he had an ear out for danger. The boy, like himself, had changed in the time that they had been apart. He held himself with a lot more confidence and determination and he was acting like a great scout. Satoshi knew that it was his own personality bleeding through their bond into his mate but he was glad to see that he had retained his hummer and downright bratty personality. When Masaki had accidently sent them in the wrong direction he had been extremely and very pointedly sarcastic. It had been cute to watch the strange father and son interact and as he watched he studied Masaki wondering if what Sho had said were possible.
He still couldn’t believe that Sho had not only attempted to make a homunculus but had been so successful in doing so. Masaki was perfect in every way conceivable way. He looked and smelt just like a human and was completely his own unique person. Satoshi didn’t know how it worked but some small part of him imagined that he could see a little of his daughter in the creature before him. He wanted to be calm about the whole thing but when it came right down to it Masaki was reanimated dead tissue. It was extraordinary.
“Not that way!” Masaki whispered urgently now grabbing a tight hold of Nino’s arm and stopping him from going in the direction he had just directed them. His face had grown pale and his eyes blown wide as he stared at something neither of them could see. Satoshi knew that it was down to the residual memory from the matter that Sho had used to make him. Satoshi’s heart flipped just a tiny bit when he saw the sight of the ruined school in front of them and he really didn’t want to know what the homunculus was seeing or hearing from it. “Sho-chan, I can’t go that way”
“Masaki…” Nino breathed moving to stand in front of his boy his hands resting on his shoulders as Masaki breathed deeply his hands lifting to cover his ears as his knees buckled under him. Satoshi immediately fell into a watchful stance moving around the area that they were standing in noticing that they were completely out in the open. Nino looked troubled his eyes moving to his. Satoshi attempted to smile reassuringly not sure how they were going to proceed if they needed to pass through the school.
Frustration moved inside of him but he kept it in check knowing that anger wouldn’t be helpful in this situation. Masaki was rocking back and forth with tears streaming down his face. He looked terrified and Satoshi couldn’t blame him as he looked up at the eerie school building that was stretching up to the sky. When it seemed that they were going to be stuck there for the rest of the night Sho appeared from nowhere.
He was dressed in a robe, something that Satoshi knew that his brother and friend wore only in the library and during meeting with his father and the councillors. Without a word, he moved forward and ushered Nino out of the way before kneeling and taking Masaki’s hands in his own. The effect that his presence had on Masaki was almost instant. The boy stared in wonder at him through his tears. His mouth opened and closed rapidly like a goldfish as he blinked rapidly.
“Hello” Sho smiled happily his head cocking to one side his thumbs drawing patterns on Masaki’s hands with his thumbs. “I am so happy to finally meet you in the flesh, Masaki”
“…Sho-chan…?” Masaki whispered in disbelief his eyes so wide they were like saucers in his face and Sho nodded the corners of his eyes crinkling with it. “You…You’re…Really, real?”
“Yes, I’m really real” Sho answered their fingers linking tightly “And so are you. Come on Masaki, let’s get you out of here” Masaki nodded and allowed himself to be pulled up. Sho nodded in his direction and Satoshi gave a smile in return his hand moving to Nino’s holding him tightly as they walked a little closer to the school and then turned sharply before heading down a long underground passageway to a large ornate metal door. Sho let go of Masaki’s hand for a moment and unlocked the door. The sound of the locks grating together before it finally opened with a very loud creaking. “This way”
Satoshi’s first thought as he walked through the rows and rows of shelves was that his friend must be very happy here lost in the deep cave of the library. For himself the dusty tomes that were staring down at him were almost intimidating and he cleared his throat loudly just to hear a sound causing Nino to chuckle a little at his side.
