The Wall part 8
Jan. 20th, 2017 11:38 am“My lord Ohno?” Satoshi blinked looking up from the canvas that he had been painting. It was meant to be a gift for the royal family but unfortunately, he had been in too much of a daze that he hadn’t painted anything other than a swirl of colours for a background. Some were interesting while others looked more like mud. Sighing he took out his scrapper and turned to his butler with a smile. “I’m sorry to disturb you, sir, but you have a visitor…”
“A visitor? Who’s that” Satoshi asked as he scrapped of the excess paint from the board and wiped it on his trousers. It wasn’t the best option but some of the colours really were very nice and he could always paint the two royal dogs in the darker areas as they were two annoying Yorkshire Terriers that always yipped and bit at his ankles when he was forced to visit in his capacity of an artist.
“…Jun Matsumoto…Sir, shall I show him to the blue sitting room?” The older man asked politely and Satoshi found himself smiling a little more. The man had been with him for many years having almost ended up on the outside of the wall when an accident with a carriage had lost him the use of one of his hands. Having no other skills and no value to the rich within the walls his remaining years might have been lived in the harsh realities beyond the wall. Satoshi had been in courts on the day of Watanabe’s trail and had taken sympathy on him. He had fought for him to stay and had given him a place in his own home. Watanabe had worked well for many years and Satoshi genuinely liked his company though the many refused to be any more familiar with him.
“It would be easier if you just let him up, Watanabe, thank-you and send up some orange water, Jun is rather fond of it, I think...” Satoshi said with a sigh not knowing why Jun would be here. Although he had seen him a lot when he had been Sho’s sponsor they hadn’t had much in common with each other and hadn’t stayed much in touch when he had married.
“Very good, sir” Watanabe bowed a little and then scurried back out of the studio closing the large ornate door with a click. While he waited for Jun he decided to sort out his clothing making sure to remember to fasten the large misshapen shirt. He had worn the shirt for many years and it was splashed with a collection of many different colours from his many paintings. It was comfortable though and it was cleaned regularly meaning that he saw no reason to get rid of it. His hair too was decorated with the many paints that he had been using and he tried unsuccessfully to smooth it out as the door opened and Jun came stalking in.
It was difficult to believe that the proud, handsome man, dressed in fashionable clothes, in front of him had once been dressed in rags and had lived outside of the wall. It was all down to the contract that he had signed with Sho. The deal had been the talk of the town when it had been struck with Sho giving his former sponsored one of his own companies. Jun was a good manager and since branched out with two more companies thanks to his marriage.
“Jun, how are you?” He said softly getting rid of the last of the paint before wiping down the tool and motioning for his guest to sit in the only chair that was in the studio. It was something that he had his models to sit on when he used them but Jun ignored the offer with a wave of his hand.
“…There is a rumour that Sho has taken interest with somebody else from the outside…” Jun said pacing back and forth without responding to his greeting and Satoshi found himself blinking slowly wondering if Jun was still jealous. The incident was still fresh in his mind and had caused a great deal of controversy only a few years ago, of course, Sho and Jun seem to have patched things up but there was little doubt in his mind that Jun still had feelings for his friend. “…I’m not jealous…” Jun said suddenly as though he had been reading his mind “I…Was just curious…”
“…Indeed, well it is the truth, Sho has his eye on somebody Ninomiya Masaki…”
“…Ninomiya…” Jun blinked a few times as though he recognised the name and Satoshi had to admit that he was surprised. Nino was only 15 and Masaki 16, the pair would have been 6 and 7 when Jun was brought from the outside.
“…You know them?”
“…The Ninomiya’s lived in the same apartment block I did…I didn’t know the children that well but I knew their father and mother…They wouldn’t have allowed their children to go through the sponsorship…” Jun sighed sagging into the chair now and rubbing his hand through his hair and looking troubled “That must mean that they died…”
“…The black lung took them eight-months-ago” Satoshi confirmed remembering what Nino had told him when they had talked outside of the wall. Jun let out a swear and then pulled at his locks again as he asked;
“How is Nino and Masaki? I bet they are devastated…”
“I thought you didn’t know them that well?”
“…I didn’t not well but even at 6 people knew Nino…He was a sickly small child…” Satoshi remembered the pale glow to Nino’s skin and the somewhat fragile appearance that he held. “His dad made him train to pull through and almost everyone knew Masaki, he was the sweetest kid…Even my parents said they would have wanted him as a son…No wonder Sho was so interested…He always looked like his mum…”
“He’s beautiful…Tall and lithe…” Satoshi said and he was sure that Jun’s face twitched “Jun…Are you sure that you’re okay? I know that…”
“That I took the sponsorship too far…? I think that everyone knows that…But I can assure that I’m fine and happily married with a child on the way…As I said I was merely curious…” Jun hummed twin spots of colour appearing in his cheeks and Satoshi had to admit that he felt something close to pity for him. “…Did he manage to convince you to get a sponsored?”
“…Not Sho, but Kazunari…He…He was deeply interesting…” Satoshi admitted looking at the painting he was meant to be working on knowing that all he wanted to paint was Nino. A soft knock sounded on the door and Satoshi smiled “Let’s have a drink…And we can talk of other things…”

Date: 2017-01-20 12:07 pm (UTC)Can't wait for Ohno and Nino to meet again. And I want to see Nino sit on that chair in the studio for Ohno to paint him XD
I'm also curious about Ohno's first gift for Nino. And I'm worried about Nino's injury in the last fight too. I wish Ohno was there to take care of Nino.
Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to next chapter!
