Against his will 157
Kazu watched the coming and going of servants from the side lines. He was still surprised that only two days after the celebration for the winter festival they were preparing to head to their own castle. The snow had abated a little meaning that the push forward was needed more so because Jun wanted to spend the first night of the new year in their home, stating that it was meant to be a good omen. The wheel less carriages had been ordered and were now being filled with all their clothes and the gifts that they had been brought. There was a weird kind of nervous excitement inside him at the prospect. He and Jun had made love so much over the last two days that they rarely spent time outside of their room. He knew that the family had noticed but thankfully nobody had said anything to them and they had been allowed to indulge themselves as much as he liked.
“Looking forward to being in your own home?” Masaki asked coming up behind him and Kazu nodded slowly before nervously chewing on the inside of his cheek as he explained about how nervous he was. “It will be fine ne! You and Jun…You’ve fallen really in love…”
“…I have…” Kazu agreed turning to look up at Jun who was helping the servants with their personal belongings. The man seemed to feel his eyes on him and he turned with a smile and Kazu flushed and lifted his hand in a wave smiling happily as the butterflies danced around in his stomach. Masaki let out a laugh and then nudged his arm pulling a package out of the folds of his robe saying;
“I got you this…It didn’t feel right to give it to you before…” Kazu took the package and carefully unwrapped it. A polished horse shoe, decorated with wrought iron flowers and ribbons along with the names Jun and Kazu. “Happy Wedding my brother…” Masaki chuckled pulling him into a hug and Kazu gave a shaky laugh his arms wrapping around the taller man before he gave a cry. It wasn’t from sadness but rather unbelievable happiness as he remembered when he remembered when he had given the horseshoe to Masaki and Sho. He had felt so envious then, so terrified that he would never even be able to like his husband let alone love but here he was well and truly in love with his husband.
“Thank-you…” Kazu breathed rubbing his nose against Masaki’s chest before he moved away to look up into the beaming face of his half-brother who squeezed his shoulder and cheerfully said;
“…I’m happy for you!”
“Thank-you Masaki...Are you stay here longer?” Kazu asked aware that the carriages were empty now and he breathed;
“No, we’re coming part the way with you! Sho said that he wants to get to our home again before the new year…He said that it was some kind of lucky thing…”
“Jay said the same thing…I think that it’s a southern custom…” Kazu shrugged slowly flushing when he saw Jun walking towards them a gentle smile on his face. His arms soon wrapped around him and his cold cheek was being pressed to his. A cold nose pressed to his cheek and jawline as his arms wrapped around him and Kazu whispered “…Are you…Is it done?”
“Yep…We can say goodbye to everybody and head out…We should make it to the first inn tonight…” Jun told him and Kazu gave a nervous nod walking with his husband and Masaki to the palace ready to make his goodbyes.
