Nino lay nervously in the bed watching the door and waiting for his brother to come in. That he was here meant that he and Satoshi had met and he assumed that his brother had been informed of Satoshi’s relationship with him. This was not how he wanted his boyfriend and brother to meet but unfortunately it was the way that it had happened and he was going to have to deal with it. He was feeling tired but a lot more confident after Satoshi’s reassurances and he was able to not gulp when the door opened and Jun came sweeping in.

“Nii-chan...” Jun breathed and Nino smiled wrapping an arm awkwardly around him as he pressed his face into his neck. “What happened you were doing so well…Did he push you?”

“What? No…My condition has stopped responding so well to my medication…The doctor said that it’s actually a good thing…Because it means that I…That I will be moved further up the list…” Nino breathed long explanation tiring him out more than he would have liked and he was glad when he could sink back into the pillows and close his eyes. He was happy to see his brother and to feel Jun’s fingers gently stroking his hair but he was unhappy with the accusation even though he knew that it was coming “Satoshi takes care of me…”

“So much so that nobody knew about him?” Jun growled in a way that suggested that he was trying hard not to stress him out but was failing and Nino managed to open an eye to look at him as he pointed out gently;

“Mum and dad…They do and Masaki and Sho…”

“So I was the only person who wasn’t told about this?” Jun hissed with a spark of genuine anger and Nino was glad that his mother swept into the room at that moment meaning that he wasn’t on his own to deal with an angry Jun. “Why?”

“Because…Because I knew that you would act…Like this…” Nino shrugged before sighing and accepting the kiss that his mother gave to him on the corner of his mouth.

“Brat…You scared me…” She whispered and Nino smiled apologetically a tear in his eye as he looked into her face “I really thought that…I thought…I thought I’d finally seen you want to live and now I was going to lose you…”

“I heard you…I heard you telling me I had to hold on…” Nino confessed softly and honestly. It had been like a dream. A completely unfocused one at that with his mind drifting in and out but each time he had been in he had heard his mother telling him to hold on. “Thank-you…”

“Always, brat…” Kazuko grinned kissing him again before playing around with his ear as she turned to face Jun “If you’re just going to talk stupid go out and let your dad in, the last thing Kazunari needs right now is you glaring and growling at him…”

“It’s fine…” Nino smiled reaching out and taking his brother’s hand in his own “I’m glad that I’m here to hear him growl and see him glare…I was going to tell you about Satoshi…I want you to like him…He’s like you in a lot of ways…” Nino hummed realising that it was true just as he said it. They weren’t exactly the same but there was a familiar essence to the two men and he supposed that it was that which had drawn him to Satoshi in a lot of ways. “...You’ll like him if you…Give him the chance…I’m tired…”

“Go to sleep then, my brat…” Kazuko whispered kissing him again as Jun caressed his hair “We’ll all be here when you wake up…Even your Satoshi…”

“…Night…”
