Paws thundered through the forest kicking up mud and leaves all around him. The scent of his bonded was in the air and he knew that he was getting close. He turned a corner and saw a wagon. There was a brown cover over the top of it and it was being pulled by a single horse. There was one person on the seat and Satoshi stalled his movements remembering what the priest had said about there being two people. He climbed a tree and hid himself in the leaves sniffing the air. It was clear to him that Nino was in the wagon…Or at least his scent was and he was starting to get the feeling that he had been wrong in his earlier judgment. It wasn’t a way to expose them it was a trap for him probably.

Huffing just a little in frustration, he made himself comfortable on the branch watching as the wagon came to a stop. The man got off of the seat and then moved to the back lifting up the flap and pulling out a bound and gagged figure. It smelt like Nino and it was wearing his clothes but there was something that wasn’t right. The figure was being too passive for it to be his mate. There was no way that Nino would passively allow himself to be tied to a tree even if he was bound. It was possible that he would have done so if he were unconscious but the figure had clearly walked, or rather stumbled his way to the tree and stood there while the man tied him to it.

Huffing again he moved down the branch and walked away from the tree and the two men who were clearly trying to lay a trap. He couldn’t honestly believe that they were so stupid but of course there was a change that they weren’t and that this was a double bluff. He wished that he had more of his pride with him but it was too late for that all he could do was trust his instincts and what he had learnt about his lover in the time that they had been together. It took all of two minutes to realise that there was no way that Nino, his feisty former monk would be so quiet and docile while in the arms of the enemy.

Making his choice he moved swiftly through the forest again making sure to keep the scent of the wagon in the forefront of his mind. He breathed a little more deeply when another scent came to him. Another horse and a carriage. A few feet more and he saw it. A carriage hidden almost completely in the brush. Inside he could hear huffs and puffs and grunts of somebody trying to escape. After making sure that there wasn’t another trap to deal with he transformed and strode to the carriage.

“Nino? Are you in there?” He asked quietly through the wood and the grunts became even more frantic and urgent and Satoshi pulled open the door delighted to see his mate. Stripped down to his bare briefs glaring at him with a gag around his mouth. “There you are…I was looking for you…”

“Ughn..Umpph!” Nino said incoherently through the gag bouncing up and down on the floor of the carriage and Satoshi chuckled moving forward and pulling the brown fabric away from his mouth. “About time you got here!”

“Sorry my dear, your kidnappers tried to confuse me…Thankfully I know my mate better than they think I do…” Satoshi told his little queen pulling away the ropes from around his arms and his legs easily as though they were made of lamb’s wool. Nino shot him another glare and then dived forward wrapping his arms around him tightly. Satoshi sobered up when he felt the trembling that was coming from his lover and he held him tightly wanting to reassure him but knowing that Nino needed to let it out.

“…I was so scared! I thought they were going to kill me!” Nino whispered against his neck and Satoshi hugged him even more “I knew you would come…I don’t know why but I knew that you would save me…”

“Of course…You are my queen…No matter what I would come for you…But…I know that one day you will not need me to save you…” Satoshi told him with complete honesty “You were born to be a were lion…You be the best queen there ever was…”

Satoshi’s words died in his throat as Nino kissed him passionately his mouth moving against his in a fever that spread quickly. It took him only a few moments to recover and kiss back his tongue playing with his own before Nino whispered;

“Take me home…Please…”

“With pleasure…”

“…And that’s how I met your birthing father…”

“They lived happily ever after…With a few fights here and there…” Nino chuckled as the story came to an end and he watched the faces of the two cubs scrunch up for a few moments before the dozen questions they wanted to ask formed in their eyes. Nino wouldn’t tell them though. The hunters had waited with their trap for two days before Jun and Sho had found them and taken care of them. Nino wasn’t sure what they meant and he had no real desire to find out he was just glad that they had been so stupid…Or rather his lover had known him as well as he had. Hunters were not a joke, they had hurt him in ways that had taken months to heal fully but the cubs didn’t need to know that and he was glad that Satoshi had stopped where he had. “I fell in love with your father soon after that…I mean anybody that knows me as well as he does deserve my love…” He said not mentioning the ways that Satoshi had helped him get over his fear of the hunters of the pain that they had inflicted. That was another story for another time. For now, all they needed to know was that their parents loved each other and that they really were living their own happily ever after.

A/N: Lame ending is lame ending but…I’ve been hurting Nino so much recently that I thought it was time to give him a break and only mention it…I hope that this was okay and that you did enjoy some of it at least ^_^
