As Nino waited for the court to finally pass their judgement he made his way back to the almost deserted camp. His sister went to bed saying that her head was hurting from the number of auras that she had seen and so Nino sat on a log by a low burning fire and watched Phoenix flying in a slow and steady circle around the camp his tail feathers flowing out behind him. They appeared to shimmer in the light with the yellow feather the main focus which almost seemed to look like the sun in its brightness. His bird seemed to be enjoying his new appearance and Nino couldn’t really blame him he had become a beautiful bird and there was something extremely calming about him. The bird swooped back up to the sky over him and then dropped down landing on his legs and in his arms with a thunk that was slightly heavy. A honk left the birds beak and then a trill musical sound and Nino gave a laugh sorting out the plumes around his eyes surprised when Fee and Swift appeared running around in circles by his face in a strange game. Fee jumped on the back of Swift and together they tumbled down into a heap knocking into his legs as Sho hurried after them and breathed out an almost gruff sounding apology;

“Sorry about that…They are troublesome sometimes…Only Masaki can control them when they get like this…”

“It’s okay…I like to see them playing!” Nino chuckled as Swift came and lay his head in his lap looking up at him with his golden eyes. His tongue poked out of his mouth and his ears twitched from side to side. Phoenix moved to sit on his shoulder his and Nino reached out to stroke the Dune foxes face with his fingertips giggling when Fee pushed his brother away making him do the same to him.

“They like you…It is rare that they are so free with other people…Away from our tent the pair are normally as well trained as the other foxes in the pack…” Sho explained as he came to sit beside him on the log and Nino smiled stroking both the foxes the best that he could as he whispered;

“…Fee and Swift aren’t like the others though ne?”

“No…I rescued them from Goblins when they were only pups, Masaki and I hand fed them…” Sho answered with a fond smile as he watched his terrible twosome rolling around in the earth at their feet “I suppose that in some small way they have become the children that Masaki and I will never be able to have…”

“Does it upset you that you won’t be able to have children?” Nino asked surprised to be having a conversation like this with Sho and he flushed a little bit feeling positive that the blacksmith would tell him to mind his own business but instead Sho looked thoughtful his head cocking to one side before he answered softly;

“…I have these two and the other creatures that Masaki brings to our tent…There is always some small creature that is in need of tending and Masaki is the best Ru’inwë in the land…Better even than his father…I suppose that I regret that Masaki will never be a father as I’m sure that he would make an excellent one…”

“…Masaki is nice…Even when he couldn’t understand me he tried to be my friend…”

“My husband would be te entire worlds friend if he were able but he likes you a lot…Ah I think the court is finished…”
