Three Years Earlier

Nino stepped off the train at a stop which appeared to be in the middle of no-where. There wasn’t much of a station just a platform with a name on a red plague picked out in black writing edged with gold. It was different from the stations in Japan which was what he wanted and needed. He was still dressed in the stone grey suit that he had been forced in for his wedding. Thankfully he had gotten rid of the brightly coloured spray of flowers at some point. He had no luggage there was just the last of his savings in his pocket. He had been in a dazed when he had booked his flight and then again when he had brought his ticket to the tiny village of Seahaven. He had only picked the village because of the name and now looking down at it from the platform he was sure that he had probably made the biggest mistake in his life.

There was nothing there just a few houses running alongside a single street that still had cobbles instead of tarmac they ran down to a cove which held small fishing boats which had gulls screaming above them. Sighing he decided to at least look at the village before going down to Whitby or Scarborough which he understood to be larger towns. He moved towards the exit of the station and made his way down a dirt track to a white swing gate and over a cattle grate down to the village. His shiny shoes slipped and slid over the cobbles and he soon kicked them off and left them at the side of the road. The pain was dulled a little by the whirl of emotions that were in his head and he sighed a little as he continued down the road his eyes focused on the glittering dark ocean that was in front of him. Stone jetties lurched out into the depths and he followed them ignoring the gulls and then men who were dealing with their nets. He sat down and stared into the murky water thinking of his mother and cousin knowing that they would know that he had fled by now. Thankfully he had withdrawn all of his own personal money weeks ago.

There was no paper trail he had paid for everything in cash and even the destination had been picked completely at random when he had gotten to the airport and then again when he had passed into the train station. If he was lucky they wouldn’t look for him for years...Finally he was free…He had always imagined that with freedom would come happiness but that didn’t seem to be the case now. He felt hopeless and alone in a foreign country.

The ocean swirled and swelled under his feet and he wondered how deep it was. It had to be quite deep for the boats at least deeper than he was. It would probably come up over his head…

“Not the best place for a swim…” Nino was jolted out of his thoughts by a heavily accented voice and he blinked slowly turning around to see an overly tanned man staring down at him. He was Japanese but he was dressed and smelt like the fishermen that were around them. The man's head was cocked lightly to one side and there was a smile on his face. His eyes seemed to give him a somewhat sleepy expression but his eyes were kind. “Come with me I'll show you a place you can swim…”

“Hih!” Nino yelped as his hand was taken and he was pulled to his feet up off of the jetty and down the ramp. The mysterious man paused for a few seconds to speak to one of the men with the boats and then they were off walking passed a few more houses and along the sea defences. Nino had no idea why he went along with it but it was probably because if the sleepy eyed man hadn't appeared at that moment he would have slid off the jetty and into the embrace of the sea and the hand that was in his now was warmer than that would have ever been.

“Never seen you in Seahaven before…” the man said conversationally and Nino rolled his eyes a little before muttering;

“Never been…”

“Odd time for tourists…are you with a group? Family?”

“…”

“I was born here…” the man continued as though Nino had actually given him an answer and not just made a noncommittal noise in the back of his throat and he had to admit that he was somewhat surprised by that. His Japanese wasn't perfect but he had imagined that the man had come over and stayed “My mum and dad came over on holiday and decided not to go back…well not until last year decided to retire back over in Japan…I stayed…”

“Why?”

“It's my home…my parents made me learn Japanese but at the end of the day I feel British…I've only actually ever been to Japan once…”

“So I just happen to run into probably the only person here that speaks Japanese? What are the odds of that?” Nino mumbled the question more to himself than to his mysterious companion who was leading him further and further from the village. Nino knew that he should be worried, in the back of his mind he knew that but he couldn't find it in him.

“Actually you didn't they sent for me I was in the sheds…they said there was somebody looking depressed on the jetty…I had no idea what I was going to do if you weren't Japanese…”

“I'm not depressed…” Nino grumbled though they both knew that wasn't true. His companion rolled his eyes a little bit before looking him over slowly and saying sarcastically;

“…I don't know if you've noticed but you're not wearing shoes and you were looking close to tears when I came if you're not depressed you're doing a pretty good job of pretending…I'm not asking you to tell me what's wrong, sadly we get a lot of suicides in the bay, it's a pretty place…though I think you're the first to come all the way from Japan to do it…”

“I didn't not really…I mean…I did think about it but...I didn't come here exactly to do…that…” Nino sighed and then whimpered a little when the hand holding his tightened and he found himself whispering almost pathetically “I just wanted to get away…I was tired…”

“I see…well my parents would agree that Seahaven is a pretty enough place too runaway to…here we are…” The man announced with all the flourish of a magician and Nino blinked his mind being pulled from his thoughts to take in his surroundings and he found himself staring at the prettiest and most dramatic beach he'd ever been on. Grey cliffs surrounded the golden sand and rocks lay dotted in the water glistening in the light: “you're lucky…it's off season…few tourists…come on…”

“What?!”

“Swimming…” The man said with a happy laugh stripping off his clothes down to his boxers before momentarily hesitating with a wicked smirk on his lips. Nino found his tongue raking over his mouth as he took in the sight of the beautiful body and the thumbs lightly playing with the band of his boxers. “You coming?”

“I don't even know your name...”

“Satoshi…Satoshi Ohno…” The man replied before removing the boxers and running into the sea the white surf wrapping around his pert buttocks almost instantly. “Come on cutie…everything feels better after a swim…”

A/N: Seahaven doesn’t exist but I based the town on Robin Hood’s Bay which is the most beautiful old fishing village and is really famous :) For fans of Harry Potter you would love Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay :)
