krystalkatzficz“My lords and ladies of the court…I have talked separately to the accused and I have a request that you hear from one of them before we proceed…” The soft voice of the guard, who Mathias had appointed as defence in his stead, said pointing to one of the caged men. He was the youngest of the three and the most nervous looking. At least now. Before he had looked as cocky at the rest but now his eyes had an almost wild look about them. His lips were bruised and bloody and his face pale. Ohno gave a nod deciding to allow it and the guard gave a smile. “Jason Tyson…Please allow him to be released from the cage…”
The elven guard that was standing by the cage looked to Satoshi questioningly and the high king gave a nod. He wasn’t sure what the human youth was going to say but it was clear that something had happened to bring out a change in him.
Jason was released while the other prisoners spat and shouted. Satoshi wanted nothing more than to go over and punch the men but Nino’s hand in his forced him to remain calm and steady watching him as he moved to the centre of the circle to stand by his defence.
“You have asked to give evidence…In favour of incriminating yourself and those with you have you not?” The soldier said in the same quiet voice as before and there was an immediate twittering from the assembled court. Ohno found himself sucking in a breath unable to believe his own ears but it was confirmed when the boy gave a nod.
“I have…” Jason breathed softly ignoring the shouts of the two that had been in the cage with him “I touched the Boy...I mean…The low king…Nino…We all did…On the order of Lord Draven…And because we-Or at least I wanted to…” Ohno felt his heart clench at the words and Nino clutched ever more tightly at his hand his teeth grinding at his lower lip his body moving forward as Jason started to cry genuine looking tears that rolled down his cheeks. It was another twist to an already strange trail “…I…Have always been attracted to him and Lord Draven knew that…I know it was wrong…And I should be punished but…I don’t want to die out here…I’ve got a mam and a da…I know it was wrong but I didn’t mean to hurt him…Not really…Lord Draven wanted us to scare him…he watched…You…When we touched him he watched and I…I’m sorry…Allow me to do anything to make up for what I’ve done…but I don’t want to die miles from home without me ma and da knowing what happened to me…Let me go back with Prince Mathias and serve time in his prison or be flogged…”
“No…” Nino whispered sharply getting to his feet and Ohno turned to look at his bonded in surprise and delight that he was taking charge. “I…This…Is my trail…I mean this…Is about me…Right…?”
“Yes…My beloved, you may suggest punishments if you desire...”
“Then…I…Suggest no punishment…Let him go home to his mum and his dad…” Nino whispered softly looking tired suddenly. The two men in the cage started shouting as wall their voices steadily getting louder until another sound was heard. Sharp and musical and a blue flash lit up the clearing causing everyone to fall silent and stare up at the source.
