Jun quickly lifted Kazu from his lap and placed him on Satoshi aware that the researcher was watching making strangled sounds in his throat.
“Just like the book!” He gasped and Jun rolled his eyes turning to watch as Kazu jolted awake, his eyes narrowing at the man that was kneeling in front of him. Yuichi gave a gasp at the change that he could obviously see in the Nekoman and he reached out stopping when Kazu gave a spit his hair fluffing up and his ears flattening. Satoshi's hand came up and he stroked his fiery fated mate’s cheek trying to sooth him.
“Who is this? Is this the old man that knows about Takuya and Takumi…?” Kazu asked sharply relaxing a little against Satoshi's hand but his eyes were still narrowed and watchful
“Yuichi, my lord…It is an honour to meet you” Yuichi nodded and Jun thought that the bratty Nekoman was going to laugh or ridicule the man. Instead he just let out a huff looking around a little.
“You…Met the idiot first then?” He asked and Yuichi looked a teeny bit surprised at his attitude and Jun guessed that it was because he had only ever heard about how close and devoted the twins were.
“I met your brother…My lord…” Yuichi nodded hesitantly looking uncertain as his eyes went from Jun and Satoshi who both gave him a blank look.
“The hyperactive idiot…” Kazu sighed scratching at one of his ears as he got to his feet and walked around to study the paintings on the wall humming and clicking his tongue. His eyes were focused of Takumi and the bard and slowly he reached out to touch a spot on the painting. Jun focused on it and saw that it just looked like a sheet of music.
“Ah…My lord, they are very old…” Yuichi said scrambling to his feet and looking panicked.
“They look old…But they’re not nearly as good as Sato’s pictures…So what do you know about them?” Kazu asked he asked turning back to the researcher who gave a blink looking completely lost and Jun almost felt sorry for the older man.
“You…Heard nothing about what I said?”
“No… the idiot and I are completely separate…” Kazu answered folding his arms across his chest “And with the pervert and the idiot I’m glad so could you fill me in?”
Yuichi repeated everything that he had said earlier and Kazu hummed throughout most of it playing around with Satoshi's ears as he did so. Jun got to his feet stretching out his legs while walking to the desk and flicking through the scruffy notes on the table deciding that Yuichi had worse handwriting than Nino’s.
“Is that the dairy?” Kazu asked nodding his head at the almost giant tome that stood in a place of almost reverence in the middle of the table and Jun had to admit that he wanted to read it.
“Yes my lord…It is written by King Jun-ki himself…” Yuichi answered and there was more than a little panic in his voice as Kazu ran over too it and opened the front cover.
“I thought that I would start a journal today because I have no other out let for the feelings that I have inside me…Today at the age of 15 I, Jun-ki prince and heir met my fated mate. His name is Takuya, he is so warm and beautiful…His smile would reveal the sun in the sky…His ears and tail are as white and beautiful as fresh snow…He was working in the stables…The son of my groom and the housekeeper…I cannot believe that I had not met him before…But his parents seemed upset that we had met…I must go father is calling for me…Jun-ki…”
Jun found himself going bright red as Kazu read from the dairy. “Wow, pervert it seems like the older version of you was a soppy pervert…not just perverted…”
“You believe that you are the reincarnation?” Yuichi asked excitedly his tail getting life again swiping through the dust on the floor and not flinching back when Kazu turned to give him an almost withering look
“Or it’s just a big coincidence…And I’ve always found it hard to believe in them…” He said pushing his hair out of his eyes “So…Was there any attempt made too separate them…Us…?”
“My lord…?”
“Going to Fate Mountain and maybe trying to plead with Hita and Onobu?” Kazu said and all three mouths dropped open at they stared at him their breaths coming out in synchronised puffs. Kazu rolled his eyes slamming the book closed “Didn’t people make pilgrimages to the place back then? I’m pretty sure that I read that Jun-ki and his oh-so loving and beautiful fated mate went there at least 4 times during his reign…I’m assuming that the good king had more in his dairy than him ranting about how much Takuya resembled the sun and snow…”
“I…That wasn’t in the book…” Yuichi hissed slowly running to the desk and raffling through his notes. Scrolls and paper went flying causing Jun and Kazu to dodge them quickly by side stepping. Kazu went to sit on Satoshi's lap wrapping his arms around his neck and rubbing their foreheads together.
“Maybe they never did try but…I think that they would have thought about it. I’ve thought about it…” Kazu said turning back to the researcher who was still searching through everything on his desk. Jun was almost itching to read more about Jun-ki and Takuya but he was curious about what Kazu was thinking. The other half of his fated mate had always seemed cocky but now he looked serious and almost worried. “I’ve thought about it…Ever since I found out about Nino…It would be and I’m sure it would be easier for Satoshi…But I would worry more about what the pervert was getting up to with my brother…”
“Oh? Because we couldn’t guess what you were up too this morning…” Jun muttered taking back everything that he had just thought and spitting at Kazu who gave a returning spit while snuggling closer to Satoshi.
“What we get up to in our apartment is none of your business…”
“And what Nino and I do is none of yours…” Jun snapped hotly not looking at Yuichi who had looked up from his search his eyes both curious and amused as he watched them.
“Nino is still my little brother…” Kazu said and Jun growled wondering how many times that Kazu was going to use that as an excuse from now on.
“He’s my fated mate…” He countered back his tail and ears starting to fluff up with the anger that he was feeling there really was something about Kazu that riled him up and made him want to use his claws.
“Brother beats mate…” Kazu said sticking out his tongue and Satoshi sighed stroking his back
“Kazu…Calm down…” He said gently before biting on his ear in a reprimanding way. He was finding it harder and harder not to smile Kazu seemed to live to wind up the sleek haired taller man. Jun clicked his tongue at the pair while trying to sort out his tail fur by stroking it with his hand as Yuichi gave an excited giggle like somebody had attacked him with a feather
“Forgive me my lords! But you…It is like history coming to life before my eyes…” The old man whispered in a choked voice wiping said eyes with a dirty handkerchief. “I have failed you though…I should have realised what was missing from my research but I…I over looked it…I thought it was un-important…Everybody made pilgrimages to Fate Mountain then so I thought the king was just the same… I’m such a fool!”
“Pretty much” Kazu agreed without sympathy as he nodded “But everyone makes mistakes…”
“But if you didn’t come across it in your research then…That shows that somebody is hiding it from you…” Satoshi hummed thoughtfully and Jun had to agree for an obvious obsessive like Yuichi it seems unlikely that he hadn’t found anything about the king’s pilgrimage, even if it was just a passing comment.
“You don’t think…The church…?” The old man whispered his voice on the verge of vanishing
“I think we can have a good guess of what they are keeping from you…” Jun nodded as he sat in the oak chair behind the desk.
“But why…?”
