Nino closed his eyes allowing his fingers to move slowly over the keys of the grand piano. He had been told once that he didn’t possess pianist’s fingers. His fingers were too short and his hands themselves too move gracefully over the piano. He had been told that he should just quit but in the end it had only served to make him try harder and harder. He felt that it had been worthwhile and he knew that he was good at it. Frowning when a note didn’t sound right he opened his eyes again and looked at the music that he had written for his solo. It had been dark at one point full of all his feelings of being trapped and alone but now he wanted something else. He wanted it to be bright and light and filled with all the emotions that he had felt while on the lake with Satoshi but he still hadn’t received an answer about him meeting his parents and he was growing increasingly more concerned that Satoshi would think that he was moving them too fast. Just as that thought floated through his mind his phone buzzed lightly and he looked up seeing Satoshi’s name flashing on the screen.

Stopping playing and with his fingers trembling as his stomach swooped nervously up and down as he wondered what Satoshi’s answer would be.

‘I’m glad your brother is trusting you on this…And I will be happy to meet your parents whenever you can arrange it…’ Nino smiled a little his heart completely relaxing as he took the words to his heart ‘I want this to be as easy for you as possible and I want to be able to contact them if anything goes wrong when we’re out on a date. I know that you can manage your own condition and I trust you to do that Babe…’ Nino flushed brightly at the term of endearment that didn’t seem to exist in anything other than movies ‘But I don’t want to sneak around and play around with your life like that…Same with your brother…It’s obvious he cares for you and I know you don’t want to hurt him…So whenever you’re ready so am I…’

Nino was almost positive that he was about to cry when he finished reading the well thought out message. He managed to push it aside though and smiled to himself as he typed a message in response.

“Thank-you, Satoshi…I wish I could write you a better message but I’m already in school…That makes me sound like a kid right? Um…I would have to ask my parents when they were both able to be there…I’m not sure where we should go…I don’t um…The bell has gone I have to go…Um…Talk to you later?’ he wrote cringing at how bad it sounded but there was no time to change it as the second bell buzzed through the air.

He pressed send and then pushed the phone into his bag before hurrying to class. The teacher was normally lenient with him as he was the top in most subjects. Something else that he’d had to work at to stop himself dropping below average with all of his time in and out of hospital. He hurried to his homeroom and sat in his desk at the front. He hadn’t wanted to sit here but because of his condition the teacher had insisted.

“Ninomiya-kun…Everything okay?”

“Yes…Sorry I was practicing piano…” He said slowly putting his bag on the floor his cheeks flushing as the man gave a smile and a fond look before turning and addressing the rest of the class leaving Nino to wonder what Satoshi was doing.
