Satoshi watched Nino cooking with smile on his face. He was using the prongs that he had brought from the store that morning to cook the slabs of meat on the hot rock. The teen was looking amazed and bewitched that it was actually working the way that he had said that it would and Satoshi felt a sense of satisfaction that he had shown his date something knew. Carefully he placed the fish onto sticks around the fire not wanting it to be too close that it burnt the delicate meat but he wanted it to have the smoky taste that came with the open fire. Once he made sure that was done he prepared the vegetables and other food stuffs that he had brought with him. He knew which kind of things could be eaten in the forest, mushrooms and roots and things but for now he had wanted something easy. If he did start the company Nino and Sho had suggested that would be something that he could do. He shook his head unable to believe that he was seriously thinking about it but surely owning his own business would be enough to impress Nino’s family.

“Satoshi…Is this done?” Nino asked from the fire and Satoshi pulled himself out of his thoughts and walked over to him looking at the meat that he was holding up with the prongs. It was still slightly pink but it was cooked and he nodded handing him a plate before giving him another slab of meat. “…Thank-you…”

“Huh? What for?” He blinked in surprise honestly not knowing what he had done to be worthy of a thank-you. They had barely any time together since arriving here but Nino’s eyes were shining as though he had been having the time of his life and that was something incredible in his opinion.

“This date…For putting up with my friends even though I knew it upset you when Sho-san said that about working on cars for the rest of your life…” Nino told him with his lips twisting into a pout as he placed the meat down onto the rock and it sizzled a little bit “He didn’t mean to be rude he just…He just doesn’t think when his mind is set on something!”

“But he’s right…”

“No he’s not...Fixing cars is something important, just think about all the people that you may have saved because you fixed their car!” Nino huffed his arms folding over his chest as he tapped the prongs against the side of his hip and Satoshi blinked again. Never in his life had he thought about it quite like that but now that he did he realised that he had probably saved at least two people for certain just by fixing their cars before something seriously bad had happened. “And if that’s what you want to do then that’s what you should do…But if you want to do something else then you should do that…You’re not limited…”

“You may not be limited but I am…I have a record…I had no choice but to work in the garage with my uncle and I begrudged it but…I think I am a lot happier with what I’ve done now…Thanks to you…” Satoshi chuckled reaching out and tapping the teens nose glad that the boy felt a lot more comfortable talking to him now. He supposed that a lot of Nino’s hesitation had come from being worried about his reaction to his heart condition and he was glad that he had helped to smooth some of that away “But…I think that if it were possible I would be happier doing something like you and your friend suggested…Though it won’t be all that easy…”

“Nothing important is ever easy…”

“You’re right about that…I think I’d like to kiss you…Is that okay?”
