That night he wakes in a panic, his body shaking and his bed wet, as screams reach him. It isn’t until a nurse and an orderly comes running in that he realises that he was the one that was making the noise. The orderly and nurse clean him and the bed telling him that it’s okay. But he doesn’t respond. The nurse leaves first but the male orderly sits by the bed. Aiba stares at him, but doesn’t see him, as his eyes closes and he goes back to sleep.
When he wakes again the orderly is still there, sleeping in the chair with drool running down the corner of his mouth strange snores leaving his throat. Aiba watches him until he wakes yawns and apologises with a sheepish smile, the whole time his hand running through his hair.
“Ma-chan…” A nasally voice shouts and Aiba turns in the bed to see a face that he used to know coming towards him followed by another that he had only seen from afar in busy hallways. “Masaki…I…We never thought…It’s so good to see you again…” Nino, the name comes to him slowly, Ninomiya Kazunari, they had been best-friends through most of their lives. It feels strange to be held and after a while he tries to pull away and when Nino doesn’t let him he pushes him and the small guy would have landed on the ground but he is caught and held by the other. “I’m sorry…” Nino starts and Aiba wants to say no that it’s not his fault instead he just watches coldly as the other boy Jun is stood there stroking his back. He remembers Jun now…Matsumoto Jun…He had had a crush on him but had never been able to act on it. He guessed now that it was too late. It is obvious from the look Nino and Jun share that they are more than friends.
Aiba knows that if he had found this out before his heart would have broken now he just stares in to space listening but not hearing the words that are leaving Nino’s mouth. Wondering if he will ever feel anything again
