“You will be leaving tomorrow…” Masahiko whispered softly and unexpectedly coming up behind Kazu who had been staring at the mural, or more importantly the little tiny figure that was sitting on a pedestal in front of the mountain. He had the sneaking suspicion that he was him, that his lover had managed to get him on there in a sneaky way. He couldn’t be mad with him but it was embarrassing how much Ohno loved him.

“He is like you…Satoshi I mean…I…Think that’s why…I love him…Which is weird when I think about it…” Kazu mumbled ignoring what his father had said for now not really wanting to think that tomorrow night he wouldn’t be living here anymore. Masahiko gave a laugh his arm sliding around his shoulders and tugging him into a hug. Kazu let out a long sigh pressing his face into his shoulder his arms wrapping around him as tears came unbidden to his eyes.

“Hmm…Not that weird…I think there’s a saying somewhere ‘One day I’ll find my prince but my dad will always be king’…” Masahiko whispered into the top of his head and Kazu wanted to agree. No matter what Masahiko was his first love which probably had a whole lot of Freudian meanings that he didn’t want to think about. Masahiko might not be blood related to him but he was his daddy.

“I think that is meant for girls…” He mumbled not wanting to admit his thoughts out loud even though he knew that Masahiko knew. The arms squeezed ever more tightly around him knocking the air out of his lungs a little.

“It can be meant for anyone…” Masahiko whispered in response “I can’t see myself in him…But I know that I wouldn’t have let you go to anyone less worthy of you…”

“I doubt I could have gotten with anyone else…You have been an amazing father…” It wasn’t all what he wanted to say but every time he tried to say more his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth choking him. Masahiko seemed to understand completely though and gave a chuckle whispering;

“Then my life hasn’t been wasted and now…Now I will have to start working on being an amazing grandfather…”

“Not from me…”

“No” Masahiko conceded with another laugh breaking out of the hug so he could brush the hair out of his face with roughened fingertips “At least that you would have to plan for…But if Masaki doesn’t come back next year saying Shoko is pregnant…Well let’s just say I’ve lost a bet with your mother…”

“I’m sure they’ll be careful…”

“Accidents happen…I would rather they have some life before they have children but I wouldn’t hold it against them if it happened…Be sure to remind your brother of that if he comes flying into your room in a panic one day…”

“I will…”

“And try not to look like the world is coming to an end…I’ll always be just a phone call away…” Masahiko told him bobbing him on the nose with two fingers and Kazu felt the painful sting of tears behind his eyelids.

“I know…But…”

“But nothing…You are going to have the time of your life…” Masahiko gave him another huge smile “…This is all I have ever wanted for you since I saw you in that hospital room…I am so proud of you Kazu…I am so happy that I have been the one that has watched you grow into this fine young man…Now you need sleep…I am sure Satoshi-kun is waiting for you upstairs…”
