On Gossamer Wings part 211

Kazu had barely been able to focus on his lessons the next day, he was sure that if anyone asked to see his books it would just show a few squiggles and circles and perhaps a doodle of his lover with some fish but thankfully nobody questioned him throughout the day and he suspected that Masaki had told the teachers…Or maybe it was because it was so close to the end of the school year that nobody was really paying attention. He and Masaki had no entrance exams to complete as neither of them were going to college this year. Jun had already agreed to make sure that they had the books they would need to pass next year and, from the expression on his biological father’s face, he knew that they were going to study and hard.

“Aiba-kun? Have you given anymore thought to the school graduation party…?” Several voices asked all at once when the final bell sounded for the day but Kazu jumped up in his chair and ran through the crowds leaving Masaki to apologise for his rude behaviour and collect his books. He ran down the corridors dodging the opening doors and students until he was out the front double doors and jumping down the three steps that took him to the courtyard and to Jun who was once again leaning against his car like a model posing for photographs. For a brief second he was overwhelmed with an odd feeling of jealousy wishing that he looked more like his dad than his mum but he pushed it away quickly knowing that Ohno loved him the way that he was.

“Do you have to pose like that? People already gossip about us…” He said instead opening to door and sliding into the climate controlled car sighing with happiness at the cool air that washed around him while Jun got into the driver’s side asking;

“You still haven’t told people that I’m your biological dad?”

“Nope…They’ve already got enough to keep them gossiping for a whole new school year…” He mumbled with a shrug “You dropped Satoshi off, right? Was he okay?”

“Yes and yes he’s fine…I think he’s more nervous than he’s letting on but overall I think he genuinely feels fine…” Jun answered pulling away from the school with practiced ease and Kazu managed to grunt in response the nerves back again as he tried to picture what he would do if it turned out that the lump in his lover’s head was back. He doubted that he would make a very good concerned lover, knowing for a fact that he would never be able to handle being in the hospital for an extended length of time. Yusuke had broken his arm once and he had hated visiting him as he never knew what to say “You shouldn’t look so worried…I know that I panic all the time but honestly, Toshi isn’t anything like he was back then…”

“I know, that’s what he keeps telling me but…I can’t stop worrying…” Kazu sighed heavily before smiling at him apologetically “Sorry…”

“Don’t worry about it, in about an hour we’ll know and then we can deal with it…But just think positive…Okay?”

“…Okay…I’ll try…”
