krystalkatzficz “That…That is seriously you?!” Kazu laughed loudly his whole body shaking with laughter as he held the book on his lap looking down at the spectacled greasy hair boy in the photo. His father was sitting behind a desk with his uniform crisp against his body and his tie completely and perfectly knotted. He looked like the kind of guy that he found himself teasing behind their backs, the perfect honour students that he found boring. It was almost embarrassing that his father, the man that he thought was pretty…Cool had been a geek.
“Yes…”
“No-way! You look like a nerd!” Kazu snorted rolling back against the back of the sofa unable to believe his eyes and ears. “…No you look like king of the nerds! If Masaki saw you like that now…!”
“He already told me that he would still fancy me!” His father huffed trying to take the year book back from him but Kazu held it tight looking down into the chubby face of his father. Behind the chunk in his face and cheeks he was still good looking…He supposed, but he also knew that it would take a better man than he was to see passed the nerd that his father was.
“Maybe but Masaki hasn’t been voted the nicest guy in school for nothing...” Kazu laughed giving up the school book as he grabbed some sushi and dropped it into his mouth sighing happily at the taste.
“What is his position on the student council?” Sho asked softly putting the book under the sofa and taking some sushi for himself dipping it into the soy sauce before eating it with a happy hum “He told me that people made it up…”
“I made it up…As a sort of joke...” Kazu hummed thinking back to the start of last term when he had been thinking about it. Most of the students in the class had wanted Masaki to run for president but Masaki had refused knowing that other people were seriously running it wouldn’t be fair so he had secretly made posters and it had gained support quickly.
“A joke?”
“A sort of joke I said! He’s the…Student prince, he’s the feel good guy everyone loves him…Did you know that? Everyone! Even the head teacher…” Kazu whined in disbelief even he loved his friend, it was impossible not to…Not liking Masaki was like not liking the summer or puppies and kittens…Maybe even chocolate.
“…He’s a lovable guy…” Sho chuckled and Kazu’s smile became a little tighter as something like jealousy crept very close to his heart. He knew that he shouldn’t feel jealous, Sho, his mum, and even Masaki had told him that his father’s relationship with Masaki was completely different to his relationship with his father but for some reason it still hurt him when he saw that look in his face. “You are a lovable guy too…”
“I’m not like Masaki…” Kazu grumbled folding his arms across his chest and Sho let out a laugh giving a shrug as he said;
“Of course not…I doubt there are many people in the world that are like Masaki…But…There’s nobody in the world like you…I know I haven’t always been a perfect father but I knew that from the moment I held you after you came out of your mum that there would never be anyone that I love more than you…”
“Dad…Stop…Being so corny!” Kazu whined flushing loudly but in his heart he wanted to cuddle into his father but the door opened and Masaki came in looking bright and happy and the moment with his dad was gone but he couldn’t be angry about it.
