“Alpha and Omega, once they have reach maturity stop aging as rapidly as all others”

“Which...Which is why you don’t look that much older than me?” Nino whispered in both surprise and interest. It wasn’t something that he had been taught before and he wondered if those in the pack even knew about it. If they weren’t real alpha and omega then it was unlikely. He chewed on his lower lip as Sho gave a nod.

“Yes, it is one of the many benefits that we have. Omega also have keen eyesight, sense of smell, and hearing. I suspect that is also the reason you became so scared when you heard your feathered friend” Sho motioned to the owl that was still perched on his shoulder. His face was buried under his wing and his little chest was lifting and falling peacefully. Nino was almost positive that the bird was letting out little birdy snores. “It is also why you were able to see my lantern so clearly in the dark”

“I see, I have always thought that my eyesight was pretty good” Nino hummed his head cocking lightly to one side surprised when Sho cleared his throat and then “But why do only omega’s have that ability?”

“It is because omega carry the next generation” Sho answered gently and Nino gave a nod before saying;

“That’s all wasted on me then isn’t it?”

“There is so much you do not know, Little Omega. It is possible, with the right mate for you to produce offspring” Sho said slowly and Nino, who had been feeling more useless than ever startled completely sending the owl flying back to his little corner with an pissed off sounding screech. His mind swam and his hand went to his stomach as he whispered slowly;

“I...I can get pregnant?”

“Yes”

“How...I...Not...” Nino squirmed a little squemish that perhaps somehow he could conceive up the...Back passage. It didn’t seem likely but there wasn’t any other hole that he knew off. He didn’t exactly know how babies were made but he was certain that it had to do with the bits between their legs.

“You are not yet fully mature, why do you think that the pain comes to you at night? It is your body changing...” Sho explained calmly and Nino couldn’t understand how the man was able to keep such a straight face. He wanted to hide his own face in his hands with embarrassment “When you are fully ready to take a mate another channel will open up behind your testicles not unlike that of a females virginal opening. It will only happen for two days every month. It is a small window of time but it is normally enough to get the job done. Once you have mated with your partner and if you catch with a baby it will develop normally within you and your hole won’t open until it’s time...It’s the body’s way of protecting the life within, male Omega pregnancy is a little more delicate than female....”

“I...I...That...That is...strange...”

“No stranger than a female alpha producing sperm to do the job...You have to stop thinking of us as male and female in a sense, we are alpha and omega...” Sho hummed and Nino found himself licking his lips another thought coming to his mind quickly and he found himself touching his chest and asking in a choked whisper;

“How would I feed the baby...Would I produce...Milk?”

“Yes, you would during your pregnancy milk ducts would grow. They will recede when the baby has finished. There is something else, a male omega can only produce one child...Nobody is sure why that is the case...” Nino blinked thinking that one baby was enough. He had always thought he was abnormal being a male omega but now he was almost certain of it. He half wanted to think that Sho was telling him this as a joke to wind him up but honestly he could tell that the alpha was serious and he knew that he wouldn’t be that cruel. “But I believe that it takes a lot out of the body and unlike genetic females even with the added help given by evolution or Penumbra the male body is not designed to have children. The womb itself comes out with the baby and the opening no longer forms...”

“I’m not...I mean...I don’t...I don’t really know what to say”

“I know, it has to be a lot for you to take in and I am sorry that I was so blunt with my explanation I am certain that your mother would have handled it better but given the circumstances...Did nobody ever even hint...?” Sho asked and Nino was quick to shake his head. He could remember them telling him time and time again how stupid it was that he was an omega and couldn’t do the one thing that omegas were expected. It was possible that the so called alphas had known but hadn’t wanted him to know but Nino didn’t think that was the case, they truly did seem to be unaware of the fact.

“No, they said that I was useless because I was a male omega, that there was no point to me as I couldn’t even produce children...”

“Strange, they have gone so far as to take on the roles of alpha and omega and yet they know absolutely nothing about us” Sho rubbed his chin slowly as he puzzled over a thought for a moment or two before clearly deciding to forget about it as he said “I suppose that it is easy to fake though as none of the packs they seem to interact with knows what a true alpha and omega are. So they can all make it up together...”

“They said that a male omega was a bad omen”

“I say again that they are idiots of the highest order but it is of no matter, never again will you be forced to be near them” Sho promised and Nino gave a happy nod and a grin before brushing his stomach again suddenly wondering what it would be like to be pregnant with an alpha’s baby, not just any alpha...Sho’s baby. He flushed quickly and dropped his hand away remembering that Sho had told him in no uncertain terms that he would never have him as his omega. The words still hurt but Nino was happy he would never have to see his former pack again and he took some comfort in that.
