“Here, I brought you some clothes and some underwear” Kazuko hummed softly handing over a paper bag in the manner that suggested a drug deal. Kazumi tried her best not to look embarrassed but she had to admit it was a difficult thing. “Don’t give me that look, I was young once you know and I don’t mind, so long as you’re using protection...”

“Mum! We didn’t do anything!” Kazumi whined with her cheeks growing scarlet as she struggled to put on the clothes that had been brought without her mother seeing. Kazuko was holding a large sheet around her to prevent anyone else in the school gym from seeing, but it was a difficult thing. It wasn’t as though anyone was in the right frame of mind to spy on her when they were thinking about rebuilding their homes and lives. The leather thong Satoshi had made slipped to the floor with a deafening slap and quickly Kazumi gasped “Okay...He asked me to wear his favourite characters costume so he could take some pictures..But that’s all...”

“Did he force you?”

“No! Can you imagine him forcing anyone?” Kazumi asked looking over to where her boyfriend was sitting with her grandparents. Kazunari seemed to have adopted the older teen as his own and was happily showing him the photos that he always carried around. As though he knew he was being watched Satoshi turned to look at them and gave a bashful smile before turning his attention back to the photos. “I like him mum...I know it’s weird but I really do...”

“I can see that and I wasn’t going to judge, when I was younger your dad enjoyed painting me topless...” Kazuko grinned in a way that suggested she knew how her daughter would react. Kazumi wrinkled her nose in disgust and then quickly pushed the image away. “I just need to know you’re safe...You’re my little girl, okay? As much as I love your brother I wasn’t ready when he decided to make an appearance...”

“I know, and I promise that if or when it comes to that I will make sure that we are as careful as we can be...”

“Good, cause I don’t think I’m grandmother material, do you?”

“Nope, not really...” Kazumi chuckled knowing that she wasn’t ready to be a mother just yet. She had her whole life planned and although she would have to shift a few things around to fit in Satoshi she was willing to do it. Next year while studying at the local college she was planning on joining the Japanese school of Ballet. The school themselves had asked her to join them on a new programme they were trying out and she had agreed. Her whole life was dance and she was determined that one day she would dance for her grandfather in front of the Japanese imperial family. “You know my dream mama, having a boyfriend won’t change it...But I won’t leave him...”

“I know, you’ve always been driven. I just wish some of your drive would rub off on your brother, he is a lazy, unmotivated...I’m at my wits end...” Kazumi smiled with some sympathy to her mother but in part she could understand her brother. He had never been the worlds most social person, even as a child, large groups had always freaked him out and he had preferred the comfort of manga and anime rather than real people. That wasn’t to say the siblings didn’t like each other, Kazumi loved her brother but there were days when she wished he would be more social. Of course, now that she was dating a true Otaku who would probably understand more about the anime and manga scene maybe it was possible Satoshi would be able to help.

“Satoshi works in a comic book store, along with his friends. It’s just the kind of place Nii-chan would like...” She hummed softly looking back at Satoshi again remembering that he had said they could use more help in the store. With only the three of them it was hard to take time off. “Maybe I could get Satoshi to talk to Nii-chan...They share a similar wavelength...”

“Would you?! That would be perfect. He doesn’t need to get a job but some kind of interest outside the house would be nice...” Her mother beamed at her approvingly as Kazumi slipped into the jeans that hugged her body. As a dancer/gymnast she had a small skinny frame but her bum and legs were said to be the stuff of fantasy. She had a surprisingly supple bum that was shaped in a perfect peach when she wore fitted jeans and with the skin tight t-shirt it was easy for Kazumi to at least see somewhat why people might fancy her. “You’re a good girl, I can’t believe that you’ll be going off to college next year...”

“I’m staying in town mum, I’m not moving to America...” Kazumi chuckled as the sheet was lowered and Kazumi stepped out running her fingers through her tangled hair. The outfit was her normal go to out fit but she did add Satoshi’s shirt back over the top just because. He wasn’t that much bigger than she was and yet it smelt of him and not in an unpleasant way. “You will still see me...”

“Yeah, every weekend when you come home to wash your clothes. So, this boyfriend of yours, is he in college?”

“Yeah, he and his two friends share an apartment together...I was thinking that I might end up staying with them...I mean if me and Satoshi are still together...” Kazumi flushed a little as her mother’s eyebrow rose and her lips pursed in a thin line as she asked;

“How long have you been dating?”

“A few weeks...But I’ve fancied him for a lot longer...It took ages to get him to...Notice me...” Kazumi shrugged before sighing softly her cheeks colouring as she and her mum started to walk to their small section of the gymnasium where the shelter had been set up. It was practiced and the school held enough beds and emergency supplies for almost half the town. The other high school held enough for the other half. It was never expected to hold that many but after the earthquake and tsunami a few years ago their town council had decided that it was better safe than sorry. The man was a kind hearted family man who believed in being over prepared over under prepared and Kazumi was sure that was why he was elected time after time. She had met him a few times as his daughter, a young girl of eight or nine would come to watch her perform with awe on her face. She was in a wheelchair and had been since birth but Kazumi had helped her dance once and she had acted like a kid sister ever since.

“Notice you? I highly doubt that was a problem...”

“Well...No, not really, he fancied me but he wouldn’t talk to me...He flushed and ran off every time I tried to talk to him...” She sighed again as her mother chuckled and said softly;

“I’m not surprised, boys like him don’t date cheerleaders, Kazumi...Not in the real world...”

“Well this is the real world and I am glad that I am dating Satoshi...He is so cute...And so creative...You should see his art, mum, and his costumes...He could work in the movies or in the theatre...” As soon as the words were out of her mouth an idea struck Kazumi like a blot of lightning. Satoshi could make impressive looking costumes, right down to the tiny details and yet they were extremely light to wear. “I have an idea...Of how we might cheer people up...But I need you and Satoshi to help...”

“Whatever you need...”

“Thanks...”
