To say that Nino was surprised to see Sho sitting against his door surrounded by bags would have been the understatement of the century. The older teen was staring so intently at the railing he didn’t seem to notice him approaching. His arms were wrapped securely around his middle as though he was trying to keep warm. It wasn’t very cold out but if he had been there for any length of time there was a chance that he would have gotten cold.
“Sho?” Nino mumbled hurrying his pace so he could reach his alpha. The alpha turned to him with a surprised, bashful smile curving his overly plump lips. The smile didn’t quite reach his eyes and Nino let out his omega scent and cooed in a comforting way. He hated cooing, in his opinion it was worse than purring, but it was clear that his alpha needed it.
“Did you just coo?” Sho asked in true awe and bewilderment and Nino shot him a glare but cooed again. It was a gentle dove like sound that formed in the back of his throat. It was a lot like a purr and yet the effect it was said to have on Alphas and Betas was instant. A warm happy glow was meant to spread through them soothing away their worries for a short time. Very few Omega could even use the coo but Nino had learnt that he had the power when he was a child and his mum was sad that she and his father were divorcing. “You really are a special Omega aren’t you?”

“Yup, don’t forget it...Are you okay? I mean...Obviously not...But...Um...Have you been here long?”
“Yeah, since this morning...”
“This morning? Sho it’s almost 4 in the afternoon. What about school? What happened?” The questions buzzed around and around in his head and he couldn’t work out which was more important. He cooed again when it looked as though Sho was about to cry and Sho gave a smile blinking away the tears that had just started to form.
“Thanks...I didn’t think I could look any more stupid or weak as an alpha and then I start to cry...”
“There’s nothing weak about crying , Sho, if that’s what you need to do...” Nino mumbled not admitting that he found an alpha that could cry and show his emotions a huge turn on. “So you’ve been here...All day?”
“Yeah, your neighbours have been giving me odd looks...”
“Not surprised, it’s not very often we have teenaged alphas on our doorstep” Kazuko said coming up from the stairs. Her face was pale and tired but she was smiling at them. When she reached Nino she pressed a kiss to the top of his head and then looked down at Sho. “Come on, it looks like you have a story to tell and it shouldn’t be done on the doorstep”
“Sorry, for the trouble...”
“Nonsense...” Kazuko waved away his words and then unlocked the door of their apartment before ushering them both inside grabbing a few of the bags as she did so. Nino followed suit and then followed his Alpha inside. Judging by the quantity of bags it seemed to be everything that Sho owned and Nino worried nervously at his lip cooing again as he wished that there was something that could calm him down. “Kazunari, put on the fire, I’ll make us all a hot chocolate and then you can tell us what happened, hmm?
“Yeah...” Sho nodded with a faint smile as he pressed into the sofa as Nino put on the fire. It always took a while to light but when it did warmth came out in happy waves. Once it was going Nino settled down beside his Alpha and curled up against his side alternating between cooing and purring not knowing which would help most. Both appeared to do a reasonable job and Sho sagged against him resting his cheek on his shoulder until Kazuko came with the hot chocolates that were decorated with cream, powdered chocolate, marshmallows and a flake. Sho smiled gratefully as he took it from her offered hands and lapped the cream slowly with his tongue. Nino had to force himself to look away at that and instead turned his attention to his own hot chocolate as his mother sat in her chair with he cheek resting on one hand while the other nursed a hot chocolate of her own. They drank their drinks in silence until softly Kazuko spoke saying gently;
“So, I take it you’re not donating those bags to charity?”
“No...My mum...She...She’s been pushing me to date an omega...” Sho answered and Nino had to quickly reign in his urge to hiss and spit with jealousy. It was so hot and quick that it surprised him, more so since he had Sho weren’t bonded yet, and he flushed as his mum looked at him with a lifted eyebrow. “I’ve been blowing her off, the omega is the daughter of an old school friend of hers, but she decided that enough was enough. She arranged for an Omiai this weekend. I told her I refused and then...She said that I was free to leave if I didn’t go through with it...I decided to leave. She’s never been satisfied, she’s not like you...She hates everything I do or like. She’s controlling in the extreme, I try so hard to please her...But...Sorry, I shouldn’t have come here with this...But I honestly...I couldn’t think of anywhere else to go...I know...”
“Shut up, you silly boy, you are welcome here...” Kazuko said swiftly leaving her chair to come stand in front of him. Her arms reached out and she hugged him tightly to her chest smoothing his hair through her hands. Nino watched with a proud smile. He loved his mum and this was just one of the many reasons why. “I can’t believe the nerve of that woman. Urgh...I will call her later and tell her where you are, but I think that for now you should stay here, let her cool down...”
“You don’t have to...I can...”
“I told you, silly boy, shut up. For all that you’re an elite Alpha you are still a child...honestly I never understand how parents...Beta, Alpha or whatever...Can treat their children like this. The parents with alpha children are the worst. Always pushing them, trying to get them to be little adults and fit some ideal alpha image in their heads. They always seem to forget that they are kids too...” Kazuko grumbled still hugging Sho and Nino wasn’t surprised when the Alpha broke down and sobbed onto her chest. “There, there...It will be okay...We’ve got you Sho-kun...”
