Sho scratched lightly at the back of his neck thankful that the last of the boats had arrived and the students greeted properly. Twilight was still far away but he could at least relax for a while until the feast that had been prepared to welcome the students, or so he had thought until he saw his nephew walking towards him with YamaP trailing behind. The pair had been inseparable since the moment they had met as toddlers and it hadn’t changed even as they grew. YamaP nodded his head ever so slightly while Toma gave a cherry wave. Sho acknowledged them with a smile deciding that he could spare a few minutes to talk to them more so because he was curious about Masaki and how he was settling in.

“Hello, Uncle Sho…” Toma said loudly before pausing when YamaP hit him on the arm causing him to correct himself with a soft “Sorry, Sensei…”

“Just Sho is fine when we’re alone, how are your new roommates?” He asked carefully, ignoring the suggestive wiggle of the eyebrows his nephew gave him the pink eyes that marked him as a member of his family dancing around his face. It had been a risk on his part to ask his nephew to take care of Aiba Masaki but he had needed somebody young and loyal to his family to do so and Toma had been more than happy to agree though he had been extremely curious as to why.

“You mean, how is Aiba-san? He’s fine, cute, bit of an idiot but in an adorable way…” Toma answered and Sho felt his yaw clench at his nephew’s description “Why are you so interested in him?”

“Because I am” Sho’s voice was short, much shorter than he had intended but he was already tired from making the same speech in several different languages that day and it still wasn’t over. After the feast, he would have to attend to his own family affairs before seeing to his duties on the council.  It would take a few days but eventually he hoped that he would find a rhythm that would work for him so that he might have time to get to know Masaki “As far as you’re concerned Aiba Masaki is the singular most important thing in this school, if anything were to happen to him…”

“It won’t, I’m pretty sure he’s going to get everyone in school to fall in love with him before even half a year is out!” Toma said, in what was obviously an attempt to reassure him, though the idea wasn’t all that pleasing to him. He hadn’t spent that much time with Masaki but even he had been able to pick up on the idea that it wouldn’t possible to hate him. The teen was the type of person who wore his heart on his sleeve and displayed all his emotions on his face. Even without the deeply beautiful scent that clung to him he was sure that he would have been attracted to that kind of person. “Though his friend…Urgh…He’s another thing all together”

“Why?”

“He’s just…Anti-vampire, I mean I know it’s got to be a shock to be here but…” Toma shrugged while YamaP nodded and finished his sentence for him saying;

“It’s not like he was forced to be here. Aiba-kun says that we should give him a few days to calm down and I don’t think he’s outright dangerous…”

“Keep an eye on him, Heir Ohno is here in the school, if something were to happen this project would end before it even began. Heir Ohno will one day rule your house, Yamashita…” Sho needlessly reminded the teen vampire, who’s pale blue eyes went a shade darker for a moment as he gave a nod.

“I am surprised that the Ohno heir would be here. Master Ohno hated this project from the moment it was mentioned”

“It wasn’t without difficulty but he saw what was best for his son in the end” Sho shrugged refusing to talk badly about a member of one of the houses, more so to its underling knowing that YamaP would have difficulty in doing anything but defend the head of his house. He might be related to Toma but it was the Ohno side which was dominant. The master of Ohno house was a fool who wished to remain in the dark. “He will realise in time that the world is a much smaller place than it once was”

“If we hadn’t outted ourselves we would have been outted and the results would have been worse than they were, same as the former Master Sakurai” Toma said and Sho nodded even though the boy was talking about his own father. In many ways, the man had been worse than Master Ohno and although he had been his father Sho was glad that he was dead and hadn’t been able to ruin the plans. As Toma had said it would only a matter of time before the humans had worked out the truth and their fear of the unknown would have pushed them to react badly.

“Indeed, they were cut from the same cloth, you should go now and remember to stay close to Aiba-kun”
