“Masaki…Is your child? The child of a vampire?” Nino breathed in disbelieving tones and Satoshi couldn’t really say that he blamed him. He still didn’t really believe what he had been told but he did trust his brother in law. Sho had been completely honest in what he had told him and there was no way that anyone would make up a story about the homunculus as it was a death sentence, even for the prince of the Vampires. “He doesn’t smell like you or any other Vampire. He smells like a human”

“Human DNA was also used. I’m sure that Sho would be able to explain things a lot more easily than I can and with a lot more clarity” Satoshi smiled at his little mate trying his best to be reassuring when he didn’t feel very reassured himself. Nino stared at him for a minute and then slowly shook his head as he chewed slowly on his lip as he got to his feet pacing around in little circles as he rung his arms about.

“I can’t do that while Masaki is there with him…The prince…He isn’t going to tell Masaki. is he?” Nino asked urgently and Satoshi shook his head slowly as he rubbed the back of his neck before getting dressed. This wasn’t how he had pictured having this conversation with Nino. Since learning the truth from his brother in law he had run the scenario several times in his mind but each time Sho had been with him.

“I don’t think that there will be anything to be gained by telling him but I do assume…”

“Masaki got sick, a few years ago, nothing worked to make him feel better” Nino whispered and Satoshi came up behind his mate and hugged him tightly pressing his cheek to his. Nino didn’t seem to notice but the sadness in his tone was so real that Satoshi just wanted to be able to wipe it away. He had the impression that Nino would have been all alone in his worry for his boy. He didn’t imagine that any of the other werewolves would have cared about him the way that Nino did. It would have been the same with the vampires. Masaki would have just been food to the others in Nino’s court. “He was going to die. In a moment of pure desperation, I gave him some of my blood. There was nothing else that I could do and I decided that it was worth a shot”

“Clearly it worked” Satoshi said with a small smile, trying to be as encouraging as possible, as he turned him around in arms and Nino smiled slowly though Satoshi noticed that it didn’t quite reach his eyes and his face remained pinched as he continued;

“Ever since then, I have been giving Masaki small drops of my blood in his human food.” Satoshi blinked in surprise but he supposed that it made sense. “I thought that it was something that I had done, but now I realise that if I hadn’t done it, my boy wouldn’t have survived”

“Probably not” Satoshi agreed slowly though he wasn’t completely sure what was going through the Werewolf’s head. “You did the right thing Nino, or are you trying to tell me that you regret it?”

“Of course, I don’t bloody regret it, but now I wonder what damage I might have done…” Nino breathed slowly his eyes closing as his head came to rest on Satoshi’s shoulder “Vampire, werewolf, and human blood?”

“Looking at your boy I think that there is nothing wrong with him, though I am confident that we can talk to Sho and have him check him out. I’m sure that we could hide the true reason for it from your boy”

“My boy…He is your son”

“Biologically, spiritually he is yours…Somehow even before meeting we became parents” Satoshi hummed and he was positive that Nino would have flushed with some embarrassment at the sentiment but the vampire couldn’t deny that it was strange. With all the werewolves in the world he had managed to find himself bonded to the person that had raised his biological child. The chances of that had to be beyond any that he could comprehend. “Shall we go and see them now?”
