Satoshi left the night school with the normal headache behind his eyes. He had never been considered intelligent and even now the lessons came more difficult for him then they would other people but he was determined to finish it. He caught the bus to the garage instead of walking and was able to get a seat with a window meaning he was able to rest his head against the cold pane of glass for the duration of the half an hour journey. He was determined to go back to the hospital as soon as he physically could but first he needed to change and wash himself down knowing that he was starting to smell funky from wearing the same clothes.

His uncle was working late when he got back and instead of disturbing him and probably being dragged into helping him fix a car before going back he snuck up the stairs and into the flat as silently as he could and stripped on his way to the tiny room that was their toilet and shower. He scrubbed himself down and then stopped by his room almost having a heart attack himself when he saw somebody that wasn’t his uncle sitting at the table. It was a woman, around thirty wearing only a t-shirt that was a few sizes too big and a pair of panties.

“Um…Hi! You must be Satoshi-kun? I’m…Mari…” She said looking only the faintest bit embarrassed at their undressed states. Satoshi nodded and hurried into his bedroom pulling on his clothes before going back out. It wasn’t strange for his uncle to sleep out at a ‘friends’ house. The man might be a lazy bum in his opinion but he was still a young and somewhat attractive man. But it was strange for him to bring people back into their apartment and he suspected that Mari was more than just a fling. “Um…It’s nice to finally meet you…Your uncle told me about you…Um…Your boyfriend…Is okay?”

“Yeah…He should be out the hospital tomorrow…” Satoshi answered deciding that this was the strangest way to meet someone that was probably going to be your aunt. Mari gave a smile and lapsed into silence leaving Satoshi to bow at her before leaving as quickly as he could. His uncle was coming up the stairs as he was about to go down them and they stared at each other in silence for what felt like the longest time before Satoshi breathed “Mari seems nice…”

“Yeah…She’s great…Um…When Nino is better we can go out together sometime…” Tadao said looking a little awkward even though he was smiling and Satoshi nodded;

“Yeah…I’d like that…Um…I guess I should be getting back to the hospital…”

“Right…How is he? Nino?”

“He’s okay…He’s actually going to be released tomorrow…Hopefully…” Satoshi said feeling as though this awkwardness could go on for a while. He knew why his uncle was acting so strangely. The man prided himself on being a horn dog and actually having someone in an exclusive sense went firmly against that image but it was nice, Satoshi thought he had been worried that his uncle would be lonely if he left but now that was gone. Tadao gave a smile nodding as they squeezed passed each other on the stairs.

“That’s good…Tell Nino-chan I said hi…And be careful on your bike…”

“Okay…Um…Have fun…” Satoshi said clearing the last three steps with a jump before getting out his helmet and climbing on the back of Arashi. He kicked his bike into life and then rode out of the garage knowing that soon he would be back with Nino again and he couldn’t wait even if he was going to have to deal with Jun and the parents again.
