Your Grace part 98

Nino walked slowly through the forest watching Phoenix as he swooped in and out of the trees his tail feathers moving out around behind him. He knew that this was another dream the same as he had had before and there was excitement in his stomach as he hoped that this meant that he would be speaking with his father again. Once more the raised pool of water came into view and Phoenix made for it diving under the mirror like surface as the reflection of the moon slid into the pool. As before the surface of the pool wobbled and broke up and a figure rose. Their hair was as white as his own and their form slim and before he had time to thing he whispered;

“Father?”

*I am not your father…* The figure said turning around and Nino felt his mouth grow dry as he saw instead of his father there was a beautiful but sad looking woman. Her eyes were an icy blue looking so strange that they didn’t seem to be real and looking into them for too long made him feel uncomfortable and he looked down at the rest of her. It was as though her dress was made of water and moonlight shimmering around her as she moved forward a little her hand coming to caress over his cheek. She didn’t actually touch him but there was a reaction of the faint hairs on his skin coming to life and prickling *I have watched over you for many years, my child…It is good that through my power and the power of your…Phoenix…I am finally able to speak with you…* He was sure that her voice wasn’t real but seemed to just appear in his head as clear as a bell. *We don’t have much time and there is so much that I would love to say to you…To apologise for all that you had to endure under the hands of your sister’s…Know that they will get what is owed them…Just as you will get what is owed…But now serious things…Tell your loved one, the child of the Sun, tell him that my tree is dying…If it is left to die then the time of the elves, the time of peace will be over…*

*How do we stop it from dying…?*

*The tree can only be cured as it was created…When the moon finally catches the sun…* The lady of the moon smiled caressing his cheek one final time before stepping back into the pool and dropping down like a droplet of water and vanishing from his sight. Nino frowned with confusion but was met only by the reflection on the moon staring back at him.

Nino woke with a jolt blinking up at the opening in the tent surprised to see that instead of the full moon there was only a half moon shining down at him. The bed on Ohno’s said was filled with Phoenix and Dragon and his lover was sat at his desk going over an old book with his mouth moving as he read. Nino moved carefully from the bed trying not to wake the two birds before reaching out to touch at Ohno’s shoulder the words of the lady fresh in his mind as he asked;

“Emma lath, what are you doing?”

“Ma vhenan… ar ame esayal dirthal to dirth to ma…” Satoshi answered in the old tongue and Nino was surprised that he understood the words as easily as he had understood the lady's though they were a little wrong. “…I was trying to learn the language of the lady so that I might aid you, just as your father said…”

“The lady she also told me that you would help me…”

“The lady? You have spoken with her?”

“Yes…She said that her tree is dying and that we had to stop it…”
