*~*~*~*~*~* Four years ago~*~*~*~*

Nino sat in the chair stroking the top of Emily’s head with his fingertips while watching the door for his lover of the past seven years to come in. Even now he couldn’t believe that Jun was still with him and had been with him for so long. They had had their ups and downs but overall they had somehow remained together. They had moved in together right after Jun had finally finished college and had gotten a full time job as a company accountant. It wasn’t a glamourous job but the wage was high and the work steady. Their friends had all moved further afield in pursuit of their dreams and careers Masaki had gone to Chiba and was now working on a farm there raising horses and wooing the local ladies. Sho had predictably gone to Tokyo main district and to everyone’s surprise Satoshi had gone with him where they had lived in an apartment share while his artistic career was taking off.

All five of them got together on each of their birthdays though for the last three years Nino had been making more and more excuses not to go after his grandfather had passed away suddenly after a short illness. One moment the man had been as healthy as an ox taking them around the standing stones of England and Scotland the next moment he was dead. His grandmother had rapidly deteriorated after that everybody had said that she wouldn’t survive long without him and a year ago they had been proven right. She had slipped away in her sleep with a photo of her beloved husband on the pillow beside her.

Nino had lost faith in everything after that. He still went to the meetings with Jun, listened to the stories but he had lost the ability to believe in his faith. His grandfather had been an old man and had, as everybody had reminded him constantly, had a ‘good innings’ he was 94 at the time of his death after all but Nino felt helpless without him and then more so when it had felt like his grandmother hadn’t cared enough to want to stay. Noaki had told him that that wasn’t the case, that she just believed that he could cope without her but Nino wasn’t coping.

He had stopped leaving the house for anything more than a minute, unless it was to the group meetings, and had avoided answering the telephone unless it was Jun. His lover was trying everything that he could to help him but it was straining their relationship. He hadn’t realised just how much it was straining it until he had accidently found a job offer stuffed away in Jun’s beside drawer. It was for the main office of the company that he already worked for in the main area of Tokyo.

The door opened and Jun came in looking tired but as attractive as Nino had always known he would become. His face had filled in to his body and he had replaced his glasses with contacts. His teeth had also been straightened giving his mouth a strange but cute twist whenever he smiled and his acne problem was nothing more than a distant memory. He was beautiful but still as nerdy and goofy as ever and Nino loved him as much. He wasn’t sure of anything else but he was sure of that.

“I’m home…How are you feeling?” Jun asked with a smile coming over to the chair, about to kiss him until he saw the paperwork resting on his knee. “Kazu…I was going to talk to you about that…”

“Yeah…I guess congratulations are in order…”

“It's a good job…” Jun told him and Nino nodded slowly, he had read the contract that Jun had been given. The salary was more than double than the pittance that he was on now but it came at a price with long hours and a move. He could understand why Jun wouldn't consult him on this, even if they were living together, he was damaged, and even if he loved him why would he want to stay in a relationship with somebody that wouldn't leave the house?

“It's 58 miles away…”

“It's not that long on the train…” Jun said slowly and Nino flinched knowing that it seemed to have been already decided.
“And how often are you going to be making that trip?”

“I want you to move with me…you can do what you do anywhere…”

“…I can't…I can't even leave the house do you think anybody else is going to come our house like Takenaka-San does?” Nino breathed not mentioning the fact that he hadn’t done any actual work for even Takenaka for almost a year and a half.

“…Kazu if we moved from here…then maybe you could start to get over what happened…And your grandparents…We could still come back for meetings…That’s what I meant about the train…Please…Just think about it…”

A/N: I hope that this is okay…And has started to make things a little bit clearer…
