“…Father? What do you mean father?” Nino spluttered thankfully looking like a bewildered goldfish trying to capture on land rather than the subduction expert he had been portraying earlier and Jun was able to recapture his faculties enough to say sarcastically;

“Father…as in the person who had sex with my mother and gave me life…”

“Ohno-sensei is your father?” The teen asked his eyes going from the shocked Ohno and then back to him. Jun could easily understand the shock in the doctors face. His parentage was something that they both knew about but didn't really question or speak about out loud, that he was acknowledging it now was a huge thing but it didn't feel like it. Ohno had been there more so than his mother sometimes and even after her death he had done his best to help him if and when he let him.

“Maybe we've never found out for sure but he's as good as…he was one of her clients and was the only one to stick around when she found out she was pregnant and then later when she was killed…”

“I was in love with her, and I loved you, miserable brat…” Ohno growled huskily his eyes rimmed with unshed tears and Jun wanted to be able to scoff and wave the feelings collecting inside of him away as if they were something nasty but he couldn't. He was already emotionally confused by Nino believing that he was actually an all right guy and to all their surprise he muttered;

“She loved you too in her way, you were the only one shed meet in the park or in that little café…” Jun felt his mouth twitch at the happy memories that came to his mind. Ohno and his mother standing watching him playing on the climbing frame and the swings and then again when they were crammed into the little booth eating ramen. They were the only times when he had felt like he belonged to what was considered a normal family and were now a deeply treasured part of his past. Ohno had always been there even when he had hated him for not saving his mother and for not admitting that he was his son. His anger had lasted for quite a long time and had caused him to beat Ohno up until he had broken several of his ribs but still the doctor had stood by him.

“I should have married her…it shouldn't have taken her death to make me tell my parents where to stick it…” Ohno breathed saying the same words that he had once told him in the hospital where he now worked but Jun had shrugged it off back then now he listened and smiled nodding slowly.

“You were only young yourself…only 22, I can understand that now…” he mumbled knowing that Ohno had been older when his mother had died but still under the thumb of his very oppressive parents “and I know that my mum loved you…it's why she refused to have a test done, she told me that a test might stop you from being my father and she always wanted me to have a kind father…”

“I would have always been your father Jun regardless of the results…and I don't think I could ask for a better son…even if you can be an infuriating brat sometimes…” Ohno chuckled a single tear running down his face and for one moment Jun wished that he wasn't so stoic so he could go over and hug him. To his surprise though Nino didn't have that issue and was soon up and throwing his arms around his waist. It was enough to break the mood of the room and have him cough loudly and turn away from them about to start collecting dished when Nino's arm slid around his waist from behind holding him close for what could have been eternity but in reality was only five minutes.
