Nino lay in the bed fighting the sleepy feeling that was threatening to overwhelm him. His mind was on Jun and the things that he had told him. A part of him was surprised that the man had been so honest with him, he certainly hadn’t been expecting that level of openness when he had asked his question. Of course there was a possibility that Jun had lied but he couldn’t see the benefit for him to lie about something like that and it fit with some of the whispers that he had heard about Jun from other sources. None of them had been able to give him much information but they had all agreed that he had been on the streets for most of his life and had used street fighting as a way to earn money. He had been good at it too and by the age of sixteen he had gotten his first ‘employees’.
Other rumours stated that he treated the whores better than he did anyone else offering them protection while working as well as a safe place to sleep. He supposed that if his mother had been a whore like he’d said it made sense that he would treat those in his care better than some. Nino had had dealings with the less nice pimps in the area who had all said he owed them a cut of his profits. Normally he had been able to avoid them again but yesterday he hadn’t been quite so lucky.
His hand went instinctively to his side as he thought about the fat man with bad BO and a huge and sickening case of bad breath that had first decided to rape him and then stabbed him as payment before taking the money that Sho had given him. His stomach was churning as he remembered and before he could stop himself he was crawling across the bed and spewing the remains of the burger across the white carpet. The smell of it caused another round of sickness and by the time he had finished that he was positive that he had bust open his stiches as a burning pain was circling around and around his side.
“Nino…?” Jun growled coming into the room and, to his utter horror, Nino started crying positive that the man was going to start screaming at him for the mess that he had made on his pristine carpet. “Are you feeling unwell? I thought the burger would be too heavy…”
“I’m sorry…I didn’t…I’m sorry…Please…Don’t hit me!” He whimpered as Jun approached the bed his hands coming up to cover his face the best that he could in defence of the hits that he was sure were going to start landing on him at any minute.
“Idiot…” Jun growled before sighing as he sat on the bed and gently pulled his hands down “Do you have a fever?” Before Nino could respond a gentle hand come to press against his forehead checking his temperature “You seem fine but I’m going to call the doctor again to be sure…He can check the stiches while he’s at it…” Jun huffed pulling out his phone and dialling the number with just his thumb. It rang only twice before a voice appeared on the other end.
“Jun? Is it the patient?”
“He’s just thrown up and I think he may have pulled his stiches…” Jun answered taking some wipes from the side of the bed and wiping away the traces of sick from his lips and chin before offering him some water. “I can’t feel a temperature but…”
“I’ll be there as soon as soon as I can…”
“Thanks Satoshi…I owe you one…See you soon…” Jun hummed as he hung up and Nino swallowed his tears stopping as Jun looked him over “You’re an idiot…But I should have left you a bowl…I’ll get this cleaned up and then I’ll start that sponge bath…”
