Sho stared at the man in front of him growing steadily more convinced that he should be a model. His limbs were amazing, his legs long and slender in a pair of pyjama bottoms while the t-shirt he wore clung snuggly to his chest and stomach. There was a few days’ worth of stubble on his chin but even that seemed fashionable like his tussled fresh out of bed look. He was close to crying again, Sho could see that much and a very small point of guilt stabbed its way into his chest but he refused to acknowledge it. This man had all but cut him out of his grandfather’s will, tears weren’t going to change that, even if he was playing dumb to his inheritance.
“Are you trying to tell me that you didn’t know about the money?”
“No! I never listened! Shu-san tried to explain it to me but I didn’t care! Talking about his will meant that he was going to die and I didn’t want that!” Masaki denied the tears falling freely now as he hugged the terrier ever more tightly to his chest his lips pressing to the top of his head.
“Honestly! I don’t want money! I want Shu-san back!” Masaki dropped to the tiled kitchen floor like a sack of potatoes his body shaking almost violently as he sobbed big ugly looking tears down onto the top of the dog’s confused head and Sho swore internally. He had promised himself to be nice, to make the six months pass quickly and smoothly but he had just ruined that by pressing forward like a money grabbing harpy.
“I’m sorry…Aiba-san…I didn’t mean to sound so cruel but the terms of the will…I wasn’t expecting them…” He bit out his apology while pulling some kitchen paper off of the metal roll to let him dab at his eyes. It didn’t really do anything much as Aiba dropped back against the counter looking up at him through eyes swimming with tears. His plump lower lip was sticking out and wobbling up and down while the rest of his face was the picture of misery. It seemed genuine enough but he knew better than to go on opinions. “I assumed that you knew about the terms of the will…My lawyer Kenobi-san said that he came here and met you…”
“He did but I went to sit on the roof with Taco and Chew…” Masaki mumbled weakly the kitchen roll being shredded by his shaking fingers “I hated listening to that!”
“I see…Then you have no idea that you have been left Three Million is Great British pounds?” Sho asked folding his arms over his chest and using his most intimidating pose on the man. It was a look that had cut down fiercer men than that but Masaki seemed immune his eyes widening into discs as his mouth opened and closed like a demanding goldfish for a moment or two until he managed to say;
“No…If I knew I would have slapped Shu-san! I swear! I never wanted money! He knew that!”
“So what did you want out of him?”
“We…We were friends…I loved him…” Masaki whispered dropping the kitchen roll onto the floor and pulling at clumps of his hair and Sho felt something akin to disgust creeping into him. He knew all about sugar daddies and those that that preyed on them but to think that his grandfather had been in such a relationship…More so with somebody like Masaki made his stomach protest.
“And he loved you enough to leave you three million and the chance to ruin his company…You must have been worth it…” He said before he could stop himself “Maybe I should give you a go…Maybe I could find a way not to mind losing everything that I’ve ever worked for…”
