krystalkatzficz Nino tried hard not to feel embarrassed as he slipped out of Jun’s office and over to his own desk. People had seemed to have calmed down with the whispers but he was sure that the display with Hana and now himself they would be running rampant again when he and Jun left. He was almost wishing that he could just quit and leave the office not wanting any trouble or hassle but he was never one that would back away from a challenge and so he wouldn’t leave he’d get through this somehow, he thought placing his paperwork into his plastic folder jolting in surprise when a soft masculine voice spoke out behind him saying gently;
“Ninomiya Kazunari-san?”
“Um…Yeah…” Nino turned slowly his eyes bulging out of his head when he saw the CEO of the company Ohno Satoshi standing behind him a smile on his face. Trying hard to counter his overly casual tone he dropped into a deep bow to fast that it almost gave him a head rush. “Yes…Sorry…Sir”
“I’m sorry for disturbing you but I was just leaving the office and I decided to ask if you and Matsumoto would like to join me for drinks this evening? I’ve not had time to go over your project before now…And as the client is a personal friend of mine…”
“Ah…I…We…I…Cat!” Nino stammered his mind quickly focusing on their little sneak thief to try and counter his nervousness. Ohno on the other hand was just looking confused and Nino was extremely thankful when Jun came over to them and said confidently;
“Our cat…She’s heavily pregnant…We don’t like to leave her alone for longer than we have to…But you are of course welcome to join us at home, sir…”
“Of course…” Ohno nodded smiling again. Nino sagged with relief and quickly packed away the rest of his things into his bag pulling on his coat while constantly aware of the buzz of repressed chatter that was coming from those that were still left in the office. If there hadn’t been any gossip happening before there definitely would be now, he thought with a hidden groan that only got louder when they started walking to the elevator and Ohno hummed “I believe that Jun said you’ve been together for three years?”
“…Almost…” Nino lied softly bobbing his head in a jerky nod “I’m sorry...For all the commotion today, sir…”
“Think nothing of it, Ninomiya-san…You can hardly by responsible for catty tongues…” Ohno hummed looking out into the main office as the doors of the elevator slid open. His eyes were harsh and his mouth a grim line “In fact I admire your ability to maintain discretion for so long…”
“…It wasn’t easy…” Jun spoke for him and Nino smiled gratefully at him knowing that his nerves wouldn’t allow him to act as well as he should. There had been only one other time that he had seen the CEO and it had been in passing with somebody casually pointing him out he had no idea how he was meant to survive an evening of drinks with the man. They fell into silence as they rode the elevator and it stayed that way as they walked back to the apartment block and finally their apartment. Kaito was curled into a ball on the sofa when they arrived and she opened one lazily little eye and let out a meow before stretching out her back by clawing at the fabric “Kaito! No!” Jun growled heading over to her and the cat hissed loudly making a swipe for his hand before jumping down and into the safety of Nino’s arms “You spoil that thing too much!”
“She’s pregnant…She can’t help it, can you princess?” Nino chuckled rubbing his cheek against the top of Kaito’s now purring head his nerves soothing away at the vibrations of her throat and the feel of the kittens moving in her stomach.
“Princess? She’s a menace!”
“But you love her really…” Nino joked waving her paw around at him until he heard an amused laugh and he almost died of embarrassment knowing that his big boss had just caught them acting like a pair of children.
