Nino opened his eyes, sadness filling his system when he realised that Jun wasn’t there beside him and that the tent/fort was cool to the touch. Sitting up he rubbed the crusts of sleep from his eyes and looked around the room wondering if there was a note or something that might tell him where Jun had gone but there wasn’t and he felt his heart drop into his stomach. That feeling only lasted a few seconds and was quickly replaced by surprise and a small amount of fear when the door handle rattled and the door was pushed open.

“Nino? Are you awake?” Jun asked coming into the room looking more relaxed than he had seen him in a pair of cropped trousers and a t-shirt, with a pair of flip-flops on his feet. In his hands was a posy of flowers and his hair was still rumpled with sleep. Nino swallowed down his fear nodding before he managed to find his voice and answer weakly;

“Yes…”

“I brought you flowers…Well more accurately I picked them…The shop wasn’t open…” Jun hummed holding out the small posy of wild flowers that were tied together with a small length of ribbon. They were dozens of tiny little flowers of blue, purple, and white, and held a soft fragrance when Nino carefully took the posy and brushed it under his nose. He wasn’t completely sure what he was going to do with the flowers but he couldn’t deny that just the sight of them made his heart flutter and jump around and that feeling only increased when Jun sat down beside and tugged him into a hug his mouth ghosting against his temple “Sorry I wasn’t here when you woke up…”

“I…I was surprised…Thank-you for this…” Nino whispered his fingers touching at the seemingly delicate petals his fingers shaking with the emotions that he couldn’t quite process completely “They’re beautiful…I’ve never received flowers before…”

“I know it’s cheesy…But…I couldn’t help wanting to do it…” Jun chuckled playing around with a lock of his hair pushing it away from his face before tracing his nose and then down over his lips. “I had a dream about my brother…For the first time…It wasn’t a bad dream…” Jun whispered “We were sitting on a field watching you running around with Satoshi’s dog, you were laughing and the sun was just coming up and I felt him take my hand and he said; “It’s okay Nii-san…I’m happy for you” I’ve never had that experience before…That…Kind of closure…When I woke I was going to wake you and tell you but…It was still early…And you looked so peaceful that I didn’t want to disturb you…So I went for a walk…”

“…It sounds like a nice dream…” Nino smiled leaning against Jun’s chest wondering how it was possible that it felt like Jun was thanking him for that. It wasn’t like he had done anything that would have made that dream possible. Jun chuckled running his fingers through his hair a few times before humming;

“Do you want to go surfing today?”

“I…Um…N-No…” Nino whispered nervously shaking his head knowing that this was probably the first time he was deciding for himself “Can we just laze around on the bed? Maybe watch another one of the movies?”

“If that’s what you want to do then that’s what we’ll do!” Jun told him kissing the top of his head and Nino relaxed again his eyes moving to the posy of flowers a huge smile on his face knowing in his heart that things would be getting better from now on.
