krystalkatzficzOhno encouraged him to steer the boat out into the middle of ocean and Nino had to admit that he had a good time. Never in his life had he felt so trusted and in control and his heart fluttered frantically against his ribs with his excitement though his hands were trembling with nerves.
“Okay, this will be a great spot…” Ohno told him when they were so far out to see that the land was just a line against the sky. “Just take your hands away from the wheel and press the red button on the side to kill the engine…”
“Th-This...One…?” Nino asked pressing the glowing red button and was relieved when the engine cut out and the boat came to a complete stop. Ohno nodded with a smile reaching up and ruffling his hair. Nino smiled nervously at the touch enjoying it but feeling threatened and it seemed that Ohno picked up on that and moved away giving a smile.
“You did really well now you should take your sea-sickness tablet while I set up and then I’ll show you how to cast a line” The older man said gently looking pleased and proud of him and Nino flushed almost happily as he moved over to the bag Jun had left taking out one of the little tablets from the blister pack. Frances stayed at his side and Nino laughed and giggled at the shaggy tail hit at his leg in a gentle way. It was like the dog knew that he had been upset and was trying to calm him down. “I think he likes you…Maybe you could ask Jun to get you one when you’re back in Japan…”
“…Would he…Would he really…I…His home…Is pretty tidy…” Nino whispered slowly biting hard on his lower lip knowing that he wouldn’t be able to cope with having another dog knowing that it could be used against him. He didn’t think that Jun would do anything to a dog but years of conditioning told him that it wasn’t worth the risk.
“Jun would get you one if you wanted it…” Ohno hummed with confidence as he picked up the now functional fishing rods and beckoned him over “Come on…We should set these up…” He hummed handing him a rod and Nino pointing to the catches that lined the rim of the boat “It might take a while for us to catch anything so we should have some snacks and a drink…First off we have to use the lures…”
“Thank-you…” Nino mumbled frowning as he took lure that Ohno offered glad that it wasn’t worms or something else unpleasant. The lure was a bright yellow and looked like a worm which wiggled around seemingly independently of itself. Watching Ohno he carefully copied him and pressed the lure onto the hook pleased when he managed to do it. “Like this?”
“Of course, this is perfect…Right, let’s get it into the water…” Ohno said showing him how to flick the fishing pole and Nino smiled with satisfaction when the lure vanished into the dark water “And then I’ll get you something to eat…I’m not like Jun…There isn’t much that I can actually cook but I promise that I will do my best…”
“Whatever...Whatever you make…” Nino whispered nervously “I’ll like it…Thank-you…”
