“Thank-you! You shouldn’t have!” Masaki said happily accepting the food and drink and placing it onto the table. Jun couldn’t stop himself from smiling at the overly enthusiastic man wondering if Sho had to cope with the hyperactivity every day. He would never be able to cope with such a thing. Today had been a good day with waking up to Nino rubbing enthusiastically against him but normally he was not a morning person and he couldn’t stand those that were. Six or seven cups of coffee were normally required to get him at least semi-conscious but he refused to allow coffee to be his first drink of the day. “Yay! Melon bread, my favourite!”
“Ninomiya-kun picked it…” Jun hummed sipping the juice that he had brought for himself before following it down with water from a bottle his eyes on Nino who was sitting in the corner growing steadily more depressed the more that he stared at his phone and Jun could only imagine the messages that were making him that way. “I was thinking that we could all take a trip today, a drive? It’s going to be the last nice day of summer, we might as well enjoy it…My friend owns a charter boat for fishing…?”
“Nino doesn’t like boats…He gets sick…” Masaki informed him through a mouthful of melon bread and Jun sighed scratching off that idea but refusing to be downhearted. It was clear that Nino needed to be distracted, though he had no idea why he thought that it was his job to do so. “Nino only likes to play video games when he’s not working…”
“Video games? What are you a kid? Aren’t you meant to be a working adult? I know that you have the face of a teenager but that doesn’t mean you have to act like one…” Jun sneered glad that that managed to get Nino to look up from his phone and scowl at him his eyes flashing with anger.
“It has nothing to do with you what I do with my time, you’re not my mother…” The younger man hissed and Jun was tempted to laugh and say that that was a relief after what they’d done that morning but he held his tongue knowing that that would embarrass himself as much as it would Nino and that wasn’t what he wanted to achieve.
“True, but I suppose it makes sense now…”
“What?”
“The reason why you’re so dense…” Jun shrugged casually determined to keep Nino’s focus on him and not the douche that had cheated on him “Your brains have rotted from too much games and not enough sunshine…”
“Urgh! Now you sound even more like my mum!” Nino hissed throwing his phone down onto the chair as he stood up and fetched his own melon bread from the table. “You might be my boss but you can’t tell me what to do when we’re not at work…”
“I wasn’t telling you what to do, I was simply commenting why you have no brains…” Jun chuckled now stumbling as he was pushed none too lightly with a jab from Nino’s bony elbow. “I still think that we shouldn’t waste today though, the sun is already shining and it’s going to get hotter…”
“So now you’re acting like a weather man? Why don’t you go by yourself? Nobody else wants to…” Nino grumbled but from the sound Masaki let out it was clear that he did but he was prepared to forgo the trip if Nino truly decided not to go. It seemed that Nino had realised this fact himself as his face crumbled a little “You want to go?”
“Well…Yeah…It would be fun! I day out!” Masaki said enthusiastically before his face clouded over “But if Nino-chan doesn’t want to…”
“We’ll go…But just nowhere with boats, okay?” Nino huffed causing Jun to smirk with his victory his mind immediately making plans. It was strange, he thought to himself as he ate his own breakfast, if I had put this much effort in with Hana we wouldn’t have broken up.
