krystalkatzficz“All of this land is yours?” Masaki asked a few hours later when they had travelled the whole of the park and his legs were aching with a fire that he never would have expected. The land was far more than he could ever have imagined and he couldn’t understand why his husband was ashamed of it. It might not have been as big as the land owned by the Ninomiya’s but it was still more than most people would ever own. Sakurai nodded with a smile stopping them walking beside a stone seat and Masaki thankfully sat down with his feet protruding out, his heels digging into the earth as he tried to stop the throbbing.
“Yes…At least it is now…” Sakurai said dropping to his knees in the dirt and carefully removing Masaki’s shoes so he could look at his feet in his long socks before beginning to massage them in slow circles chasing away the pain. Masaki bit back a moan as the knuckle of the forefinger rubbed into the sole of his foot stabbing at what felt the most sensitive part of it. “Does that feel better for you?” Sakurai asked and not able to trust himself to speak Masaki nodded sucking on his bottom lip “Good…In truth all of this land was the king’s land…When my parents disowned me the king gave me a lordship of my own and granted me this land so that I might have something to offer you so we could be married, you may have taken me as a pauper my love but the Ninomiya’s were the type to have refused for the fun of it…”
“…But…As it was a gift that still makes it your land…” Masaki pouted his voice stopping shaking as Sakurai’s fingers lightened their movements. His husband gave a smile and nod blowing out just a bubble of breath as he rotated his foot a few times before saying;
“It does…But it was a gifted title and a gifted land, most of the populous would say that I owe most of my good fortune to my friendship with the prince…”
“And what does it have to do with them? From what I can remember…Most lords in history got their titles and lands that way…They are just jealous…”
“Exactly, my love, they are…” Sakurai chuckled while Masaki fumed wondering why they would be like that. As far as he knew the Ninomiya’s had gotten their title a 100 years ago because the first lord Ninomiya was smoking friends with the king. “Most are a bunch of old men that were dear friends with the father of the old king, the old king made them friends by granting them more power and rights over the people on their lands…King Satoshi…He does not work that way, he has always been…Of the people…”
“Because his mum was a commoner?” Masaki asked remembering something vaguely along those lines from a lesson with Yun. He had been both amazed and oddly happy that the fearsome looking king most have had a softer side to do that but when Sakurai let out a laugh he knew that he was wrong and was more than likely showing his ignorance again.
“…There is not many people that would say she was a commoner…There was no title to be sure but like your father her father was a gentlemen farmer and a very wealthy one at that…” Sakurai hummed letting go of his feet completely now but letting them rest on the tops of his shoes without putting them back on. “She was a lovely lady and she had a lot to do with the way the king turned out…King Satoshi changed the system completely so every man and woman that is of age may cast a vote to elect a person to speak upon their behalf regarding their own lives…Thus cutting away a lot of the power of the lords, not as much as he would have liked I imagine but he is still young yet and his son, the eldest of the king’s children is in the same mind of his father…Change will happen if they like it or not…But that the king gave me these lands…I imagine that most see it as an insult…”
“Then…Together we will prove them that you deserve them…Just as much as they do, if not more!” Masaki announced with more confidence than he felt but he was glad of it when Sakurai smiled nodding himself.
“Of course we will…”

“Brother…” Jun said heavily looking at the older man who looked almost like a double of the king though he was taller and was less rounded in the cheeks. His hair was longer too and surrounded his face in soft brown curls. His eyes were the same deep brown but instead of the judging look the king had given him the prince’s eyes were crinkled into a pleasant smile. “My husband, I would like to introduce you to my eldest brother, Ethan...Ethan this is my husband, Kazunari…”
“Pleased to meet you…” Ethan smile easily as he almost sauntered over to them each step easy and as confident as Jun’s were before he was coming to stop in front of him and peering into his face his mouth twisting into a very satisfied smile “Well…At least you got a pretty one…”
“Shut up…” Jun growled causing Kazu to flinch when the hand that had been resting on his arm was now digging painfully into his arm cutting off the circulation. He chewed on his lip tightly grinding it slowly between his teeth as he focused on the crown prince that was standing in front of him. He wasn’t anything like he had been thinking though he hadn’t really thought about it at all. He knew from bits of conversation that he looked like the king but was something of a prankster when he was younger but, at least when it came to his brother
“Aww come on little brother…” Ethan laughed reaching out and ruffling Jun’s hair playfully with the tips of his fingers making the proud
pouting prince “I did come to tease you but I am being sincere, Kazunari…You are a cute little guy…Oh relax, princess” The prince said his eyes flicking up to Jun who was growling almost like a dog now “No matter how cute he might be he is not my type…Your sister would have something to say about that…But compared to the other Ninomiya’s I have met he is a looker…So, Kazunari…How are you enjoying being married to my brother? Is he the bore he is to us?”
“…I…Um…I…”
“Leave him alone, what are you doing here anyway? I thought you were living away from the palace for a while…” Jun said cutting off the garbled words that Kazu was trying to form into a sentence. He was desperately trying to remember his elocution lessons but he had no idea how he was meant to answer that question while his husband was sitting beside him. Ethan gave another laugh and a nod as he looked around the hallway he was sitting in
“Indeed but since I missed the princess’ wedding father invited us back to the palace so we could meet him...”
“…Us? What do you mean by us?” Jun asked sounding almost panicked now and when he heard another voice coming down the hallway Kazu was sure his husband was going to faint. “Jonah…I should have known…”
“Why us, you thought that we would not want to celebrate the princess June getting married? We are having a party…”
A/N: I’m so sorry that this seems to be dragging at the moment >.< I do have a plot for both couples but bringing it to that is more trouble than it’s worth and I swear to you that MatsuMiya will have some proper alone time soon! The elder princes love their brother I swear they just like to tease him a lot J
