Our First Summer part eighty-three

krystalkatzficzNino opened his eyes very reluctantly, the pain wasn’t in his head at the moment but he suspected that the moment that he did the pain would return. He could hear a horrible mishmash of machines around him and the broken crying of at least two people one was definitely female while the other was male and it took him a few minutes to realise that it was obviously Masako and Jun nobody else was going to make that much fuss over him. His eyes fully open he regretted not listening to himself as his head exploded with pain that seemed to completely knock the wind out of him. He blinked a few times and then squinted his eyes deciding that that was the best course of action for now. He looked around the room and groaned loudly when he saw that it was a private hospital room. It was all done tones of grey and Nino decided very quickly that if he had to spend a long amount of time in here he was very easily going to kill himself just to escape.
“Daddy” Masako said her voice cutting through him like a sharp knife “Are you awake?” Nino let out a soft groan in response not trusting his voice at the moment and he felt more than saw somebody come and stand beside him when it took it his hand he knew that it was his Jun.
“Kazu...”
“...JJ...” Nino said managing to give the hand a smile squeeze surprised when it hurt like he had cracked his knuckles too hard. “Whazit?” Nino asked trying to ask what had happened but his voice didn’t seem to want to work for him. He swallowed slowly and then tried again, “What...Happened?”
“You fainted, daddy, and then the police brought you to the hospital...” Masako answered coming to stand beside Jun and Nino took her hand with his free one giving her a smile his thumb moving over the back of her hand. “They say that you’ve got two Aneurysms in your head...”
“Well...I’ve always liked to be greedy...” Nino joked having to admit that he had only just heard of them before, he never thought that he would actually get one. “What caushed it?”
“High blood pressure, Ninomiya-san...” A voice form the doorway answered his slurred question and the three looked up to see a tallish pretty looking woman with cropped brown hair wearing a white coat. She looked familiar but he couldn’t think from where he might have seen her, he didn’t visit hospitals very often and women were definitely not in his scope for dating. “Pleasure to meet you Ninomiya-san, I am doctor Matsumoto...”
“JJ’sh...Jun’sh mother?” Nino whispered in horror pulling his hand away from Jun’s and by accident his daughters and the pair scurried across the room again while Nino felt his heart racing against his ribs. This really wasn’t the best way that he wanted to meet Jun’s mother. In fact if he could have got away from it, he wouldn’t have met her at all.
“Indeed...Matsumoto Kimiko...Don’t worry that is a conversation that we will be having another time. You have been unconscious for two days, which is rare but not unheard of, my son phoned for me yesterday in a fit of panic...” She said smoothly and Nino tried not to think of Jun being panicked for any reason much less because of him “Although I am not I’m not your doctor I can say that you were very lucky if Jun hadn’t suspected an aneurysm and insisted you be brought here instead of resting in bed you could very well be dead, Ninomiya-san...”
“That’sh my JJ...” Nino slurred without even really thinking about it as he smiled weakly trying to lift his head to look at the boy in question but giving up halfway through and sinking down into the bed again. The strain causing his head to feel like it was about to explode and his eye fly out of his socket. Both the pressure and the pain were like nothing he had ever felt before and he wasn’t sure how he was meant to elevate it. “So’o...What...Happensh now?” He asked looking up at the doctor again who gave him a smile her hand resting on his forehead
“Now, they will come and discuss with you your options...Though from what I can gather it is most likely that you will then be taken into surgery and they perform a little operation on your brain...” Kimiko said softly her arms coming to rest against her chest and Nino was beginning to see where he had developed that look. It was look that Jun gave him right before he smacked him around the head or called him a brat. It wasn’t an unfriendly look but it was enough to unsettle him and make him want to wriggle around in the bed
“Ash long ash itsh only a little...” Nino said frowning again at how much his words were slurring. He had met a man that had had a stroke and he had talked in a similar way with a hiss to his words and Nino was half terrified that it was going to be permanent but he refused to let any fear show in front of his daughter or even Jun at the moment. His lover was looking less like the capable man that he had fallen in love with and more like a terrified teenager that he was. From the small glimpse that he had seen Jun was clinging to Masako with his eyes swimming with tears his lip were bruised and bloody from where he had been chewing on them.
“Come here you two...” Nino said quickly lifting up his hands and beckoning them over the best that he could ignoring the weird squiggly lines that were moving in front of his eyes and the painful lump of sickness that was raising up in his throat. Jun and Masako came over and threw themselves at his chest nuzzling both their noses into his skin. Jun’s found its way to his spot on his neck while Masako was over his heart in the same place that it was rest his head when she was sick, just to prove to himself that she was alive. He brought his arms up around them stroking both their backs as quickly as he could, which wasn’t very fast, while sshing them both when they started to sob. “Hey, come on...Don’t cry...I’m shorry that I shcared you both...but...thanksh...To JJ...I’m going to be fine...They’ll fix me up and then I’ll be coming home...”
“Daddy...” Masako whispered her breath hot against him her tears soaking clear through the hospital gown that he hoped that it was Jun that had changed him and not some nameless face from the hospital staff. He didn’t mind being man handled but he wanted to be manhandled by somebody that he cared about.
“Come on...No tears...Okay...I’m okay...I promish...” He said really wishing that the slur would go away. Jun nuzzled even deeper into his neck and Nino decided that he didn’t care if Kimiko was standing right beside the bed and he kissed the top of his head in the best way that he could wondering aloud “Can I ashk what caushed it?”
“As I said it was very high blood pressure” Kimiko answered in a way that suggested that she had been waiting for the question “According to your chart it was through the roof when you arrived and I imagine that it’s been that way for a while...There’s only so long you can push yourself, regardless of how young you appear outside, inside you’re not getting any younger...”
“I’m 36, I’m not exactly a penshioner...” Nino slurred aware that it was a very pointed remark for both him and her son. It didn’t seem like Jun was paying much attention in fact it appeared that both he and Masako had fallen to sleep against him. “If you want to shay something...Shay it don’t make pointed barbs...”
“Ninomiya-san...I’m sorry...Until you are better I will not say a word about your relationship with my...Son...I swear it, but the moment that I feel that you are well enough I will have a lot to say you had better be ready to listen...” Kimiko said in a level voice that filled him with dread. The gods, fates and everything in between must hate him, Nino decided closing his eyes and settling back against the pillow, a week it had been a week and more seemed to have happened in his life than it ever had before. He was really not looking forward to what was coming next.

A/N: I hope this is okay...Um there are only five more parts to this arc and then it changes to...Our Second Summer not really original but if I wasn’t careful it would be Autumn and winter too J

I know it is different from accepting a relationship between the two, but at least she can see the love between the two and maybe think twice before saying no ....

I love your way of doing the chaptered fics. This way, you can see the evolution of the characters. I love it!!!! Even thought, OUr first Autum and Winter would be ok too!!
