Toma hummed as he picked up two melons and weighed them with his hands a thoughtful expression on his face and Ohno grumbled under his breath wondering just why the hell he had agreed to come to the supermarket. They had already been here for almost an hour and it didn’t look like they would be getting out anytime soon even though the trolley was almost full. Toma checked everything and seemed to weigh everything by hand seemingly refusing to trust the scales that were next to him. Toma turned to face him holding up the melons in front of his face a smile playing on his lips as he asked,
“Which one do you think, Oh-chan...?”
“Don’t call me that...” Ohno snapped hating the childish nickname slipping out of the other man’s mouth. It sounded wrong, forced, not like the way Nino said it. Toma looked completely non-pulsed as his smirk got wider and his eyes flashed a little saying,
“Why, it’s what Nino calls you...”
“It’s because Nino calls it me...” Ohno grumbled leaning against a display of cabbages ignoring the head shake that Toma gave. Okay it was a weird thing for him to be angry about but it felt like it was the last thing that he had of Nino and he wasn’t going to give that up without a fight. Toma hummed with a nod and then stuffed the melons into his face again so high that if he didn’t have such good reflexes he would have hit his nostrils with the golden fruit.
“Okay then, Toshi-san which one do you prefer?” The manager asked jerking the fruit up and down until Ohno was tempted to push it out of his hands or scream at him or maybe both. Reluctantly he looked at the fruit and then back into the handsome face of the manager his heart jumping in a way that he really didn’t want it too right now.
“Does it matter?” He asked side stepping out of the way and stepping around the cabbages. Toma gave a shrug and then another hum looking at the two melons that were in his hands as he said
“True, at the end of the day they’ll still be going inside us but you have to be sure you know that you get the right one...”
“...So your punishment is to bore me to death with fruit?” Ohno asked in his soft voice almost positive that there was a hidden meaning in that statement and it really wasn’t something that he wanted to think about right now. Toma gave a happy sounding laugh that sent annoying jolts of electricity running down his spine in a way that that he was positive that he should hate but he didn’t. In fact it felt nice and he had to force himself not to respond to it.
“Maybe...But in all honesty I didn’t know that you were fruit-phobic...I’ll put it on my list of things to annoy you about later on...” Toma answered and Ohno gave a grumble and then turned on his heel his feet squeaked on the polished floor hurrying away. He couldn’t go too far away, it was too far from the apartment for him to walk and Toma had the keys to the car. In the end he stormed out of the shop and blinked at the hateful sun that was shining down on him. He hadn’t got drunk but his head was a little light and his head spun. With a groan he blinked a few times until his head cleared and his eyes adjusted to the sunlight.
He had known that he was on the coast and he knew that it was about 80 miles away from Nino’s beach house and there was a marina nearby but this was the first time being here and seeing it and he had to admit that he was impressed with what he was seeing. The boats were obviously more for pleasure fishing than commercial, all sleek with perfect paintjobs and well printed names on the side. He stared at them longingly wishing that he could just hire a boat and go out to sea. He loved the sea, in fact he loved it so much that when he was a child he had wanted to grow up and be a fisherman. His mother had put the knockers on that idea almost as soon as it had been born but she hadn’t been able to stop him from doing it for pleasure once he had moved out.
“You still like to fish right, Toshi-san...?” Toma asked against his ear and Ohno jolted his face flushing as he spun around to look at the manager who was carrying two large bags of groceries, one in each hand. Ohno would admit that he was surprised by the show of strength the thin man was showing and he automatically reached out and took one of the bags. “Thanks...So fishing, Nino told me you were obsessed with it...That’s why he sent you here...He thought that you might get inspired...He’s also arranged for a boat...”
“He thinks of everything ne...” Ohno sighed shifting the weight of the bag in his hands and then walking towards the car. He wished that Nino hadn’t thought of it, he wanted and needed a break, he was trying but he was only human and the sweeter that Nino was to him the more he wanted to storm back to Zorko’s or the beach house and take him away from the kid.
“Yeah...But that’s his job...It’s also reason that you’ve been in love with him for so long...” Toma hummed his shadow bobbing up and down next to his. Ohno stared at it, his heart doing a weird little flip when he saw that it looked like they were holding hands. He knew that it was just a trick of the light caused by the way that their shadows were over lapping but he took a side step away from the younger man and clenched his hand against his side. Toma noticed the action and let out a hyena like laugh that threw his head back exposing and Adam’s apple that was dripping with sweat. “Relax Toshi-kun I’m not going to attack you in a car park...”
“I’m not worried...I know that somebody like you wouldn’t like me...” Ohno mumbled in a classic case of his mouth engaging before his brain had time to fliter out the words and tell him that it was a bad idea.
“Was that you fishing for compliments?” Toma asked through another round of laughter as he dug into his pocket for his keys “’Cause, if it was I gotta tell you that that was so old fashioned I’m sure you could register it as an antique...”
“Shut up...I don’t know what you’re doing here and I don’t know what you’re punishing me for...” Ohno snapped feeling himself getting angrier than he had ever gotten before. His heart filling with both anger and embarrassment. He hadn’t been ‘fishing for compliments’ with that, it had been his own thoughts and feelings. Toma was a bright and normally warm man and he could imagine that he would have no problems pulling any guy that he wanted so why would he bother with a sad old man with a grown up son and was currently on the wrong side of 40? “I apologised for what I did when you and Nino were dating, you’ve already said that that you forgot about it and that must be true since you’re still working for him...Yeah I was an arsehole but it takes two to tango and I...”
Ohno’s words died when suddenly lips, Toma’s lips, were pressed against his and his arms were wrapped around him the bag of groceries and keys digging into his back. It was the first time that he had ever kissed a man that wasn’t Nino and he was surprised at how...Different...It was. Nino was a smooth as a baby even after a week Toma looked clean shaven but there was the definite rasp of stubble against his face. The technique was different too, Nino had been almost unresponsive in his kisses and always seemed to be holding back. There was none of that with Toma. Toma was forceful and almost brutal with the way that his tongue thrust in and his teeth nibbled at his lips. Ohno wasn’t sure how long it lasted before he managed to pull away but he knew that when he did his heart was hammering against his ribs and it felt like his mouth was tingling.
“When you figure out why I’m here we can continue...Come on let’s go back and I’ll make you my special spicy pancakes”

A/N: I’m sorry for the boring chapter last time...It will pick up but I wanted them to have a rest and have family time before what’s coming (angst L) so I’m sorry...I hope you like this part though ^_^
