krystalkatzficz“Save the last dance...” Nino scoffed as sifted through the stack of CD’s that had somehow found their way onto his bed. Jun’s had the decency to blush hotly as he grabbed the battered CD case hugging it to his chest.
“It’s a beautiful song...” He said under his breath and Nino rolled his eyes loving the colour that had tinged Jun’s ears. He loved the song and it was his greatest wish right now that Jun would slip the CD into the player so they could navigate their way in a weird sort of dance around the mounds of clothing in a tentative dance but there was no way that he was going to admit that out loud but he was disappointed when Jun just put it on the side.
“It’s as corny as fuck” He muttered back going back to the CD’s and bursting into laughter when he pulled out a copy of the Labyrinth soundtrack “You have this too?”
“Too...You have it?” Jun asked with a raised eyebrow looking at him in disbelief and Nino shrugged his insides not even embarrassed by admitting that.
“Yeah...Come on, David Bowie skin tight trousers and a possessive nature...So drool-able...” Nino said sighing dramatically as he looked at the picture on the front “I know every single frame of film that you can pause the video on to see the...Package to best effect...”
“You are a pervert...Only you would focus on that in a kid’s movie...” Jun growled pulling the CD of his grip and sticking it with Nino’s copy that was on the shelf.
“No...Just a very horny boy that didn’t have enough courage to buy porn magazines...” Nino sighed with a sigh deciding that it wasn’t worth mentioning the whole David Bowie crush that had affected him for years. Sachiko knew about it but since she’d fancied the pants off of Sarah it was one of the few crushes and obsessions that she rolled with even when they realised that they had seen the movie close to a 100 times and were saying the lines from the movie word for word. “I am prepared to bet any amount of money that I am not the only one in the world that has lusted after David Bowie’s codpiece...”
“Nope but you’re one of the few people in the world that know just when to freeze frame his Ziggy Stardust performance so you can see his cock...” Sachiko said dryly from the doorway and Nino glared at her his ears burning.
“Traitor...” He spat flopping down onto the bed and hugging his knees “What do you want?”
“Not you today Eddie...Pixie’s here to see Jun...” She answered softly and Nino had to admit that both his and Jun’s mouths dropped open to their chests. Pixie had told them that she had needed time and had gone home for about for the month telling the school that there had been a family emergency, Nino had no idea what she had told her parents.
“You okay?” He asked Jun noticing that his face had gone white and he was gripping the CD’s so tight that his knuckles matched his face. “Babe...J...”
“Huh...Yeah...Sure I want to see her...” Jun said dropping the CD’s with a clatter and smoothing himself out before, bizarrely, fluffing out his hair and then tugging at his shirt. Nino rolled his eyes and leant back against the headrest reading through the CD’s as Sachiko went to fetch Pixie. Jun paced as much as he could over the clothes but it wasn’t long until Pixie was standing in the door way and pointedly looking anywhere that wasn’t at the bed. “...Moriko-chan, nice to see you again...” Nino said when Jun just stared at her like a deer caught in the headlights of a truck. Pixie flicked her eyes to him and gave a nod to indicate that she had heard him and Nino relaxed when he saw that she looked a lot better than the last time that he had been in the same room as her.
“Um...Long time no see...” She said with a tight smile on her face coming further into the room playing with the bag that was at her side. “Um...Nino...Can I speak to Jun alone? Please...”
“Ah...Yeah...” Nino answered getting up slowly from the bed just barely resisting the urge to kiss his boyfriend like he was marking his territory before slipping out of the room and closing the door behind him. Sachiko had her hand already of the coffee pot and Nino oozed his way over to the table and sat down holding his head in his hands aware that she was casting him questioning looks “It could have been worse...” was all he mumbled his eyes fixed on the closed door wanting to be there to support his boyfriend but knowing that Jun wouldn’t like it.
It was an awkward thing for them, both of them, they might not of been ‘in love’ with one another, or at least Jun might not have been, but it was obvious to a blind monkey that they loved each other the same as Nino and Sachiko loved each other. This whole thing was a mess and he couldn’t think of how he could resolve it.
“Here...If you want my opinion I think she’s over it...” Sachiko said handing him his cup and Nino blinked in surprise accepting the drink before going back to door watching.
The time dragged slowly and even with Sachiko trying to keep him distracted by telling him anecdotes from her day, nerves was gnawing at his stomach so much that by the time the door opened and Pixie and Jun came out his was close to throwing up. Their faces were pale and it was obvious from the red eyes that they had been crying but they both managed a smile when they turned to look at him.
“Right...I guess I should go and get unpacked...” Pixie said brightly and instantly Sachiko was on her feet offering to take her bag.
“I’ll come help you” She said and Pixie nodded turning back to Jun and pressing a kiss to his cheek.
“I’ll see you later...”
“Yeah...” Jun nodded his voice flat sounding and Nino’s feet started moving before his brain could process it and before he could blink he was at his boyfriend’s side his fingers brushing against his hand as they watched the girls walk away. When they had closed the door behind them the room was plunged into a silence that was uncomfortable and quickly Nino coughed and gave a nervous giggle
“So...How did it go?”
“She said that she would continue to pretend to be my girlfriend while we’re still in college...” Jun said wiping his eyes and sinking into the settee. “She said that we’ve been friends for too long for her to let me get hurt for being something that I can’t help but...She asked that I never bring you up to our room...Not yet...She’s not ready for that yet...But she did tell me that there’s someone that she would like to start seeing that’s why she came back...”
“Who...?”
“Her cousin, Sho...Sakurai Sho...”
“The guy that you were crushing on...” Nino whistled going to sit on the arm of the sofa his hand resting on Jun’s shoulder his fingertips brushing at his cheeks. Jun gave a laugh flopping against him his eyes closing.
“Yep...He knows about me...When she got home he was there and he helped her through it...They spent a lot of time together and then two days ago he told her that he liked her...”
“That’s great isn’t it? Pixie deserves to be happy...But I know that it’s gotta be weird for you...”
“Not as weird as you would think...This month, I haven’t thought about her once except when Sensei called out her name...This month has been amazing...” Jun told him looking up at him with a smile on his face his eyes shining like molten gold. “I’ve never felt as good as I do when I’m with you...”
“Wow...Flattery...I’m...Well flattered...” Nino finished lamely pressing his lips to the top of his hair “So this means she’s going to be your date for the party?”
“Yeah...Though I wish I was going with you...”
“Me too...So... Do you just listen to corny music or can you dance to it too?” Nino asked getting a sudden flash of inspiration as he stalked his way back into the bedroom and grabbed the Drifter’s single from the side. He took the shiny disc from the plastic and stuck it into the machine clicking play before turning and holding out his hand to his boyfriend “Can I have this dance?”
“I thought this was corny?”
“Oh it totally is...But the lyrics have meaning...” Nino said spinning his boyfriend around with a skill that surprised the taller man and he gave a grin “I was raised by my mum and sister and I have a female best friend...I can move...” he whispered pulling him tightly against his body and moving along with the music as the song started “You can dance ev'ry dance with the guy who gives you the eye, let him hold you tight, You can smile ev'ry smile for the man who held your hand 'neath the pale moonlight, But don't forget who's taking you home and in whose arms you're gonna be, So darlin', save the last dance for me, mmmm...”
“You’re so corny, babe...” Jun said all of the sadness leaving his face completely and Nino laughed spinning him out again
“I know...But I love you...” he said quickly pulling him back and dipping him so his back rested against his leg before bring him back up and kissing him as he whispered “And you love me for it...”
