Nino realised a little too late that Lair probably the wrong word to use but once it was out there it was too late to take back and he stood waiting for his big brothers reaction. So far Satoshi was just staring at him like he had lost his mind. His eyes were wide and filled when his tongue was darting over his lips. His Adam’s apple was bobbing frantically and he jumped when Jun to a step towards Nino. The kits had gone silent as if they too were waiting for a reaction. It was the first time Nino hadn’t heard their songs since the boat and he was itching to go to them but he didn’t think anybody was ready for him to draw attention to the eggs. Jun looked like he was on edge his eyes were flashing from blue to purple to red and then back to blue and the muscles in his jaw were twitching.

“Satoshi…” Nino whispered when the silence had continued for what seemed like years. Satoshi blinked and his whole body gave a shake.

“You…Um…Here...Eh…?” He stammered incoherently his head flying around the basement his eyes taking in the pool. “How…How did you do all this?”

“Jun did it got it already for us…” Nino almost bit his tongue in half when he realised that he had said ‘us’. Satoshi's eyes narrowed sharply, his head tilting to one side.

“Us…How many of you does he had ensnared in here?” He hissed and Nino made a strangled noise in his throat as he hurried to try and explain.

“What? No…It’s not like…”

“Kazunari is my only mate…” Jun said smoothly, stepping forward and Nino was almost scared at how tense he was. His muscles were tight and his movement were fluid like a predatory animal as he stalked towards his brother. “Sirens are completely monogamous; I couldn’t cheat on Kazunari even if I wanted to…I never have been able to…Ever since I was a child…”

“What…That means…” Nino whispered realising what that meant Jun’s eyes flicked over to him and he fixed him with a steady stare even when his cheeks flushed a little.

“You are my only partner…Ever…” He answered with a nod and Nino’s stomach did a funny summersault and he grinned happily before turning back to Satoshi who was staring at Jun with a calculated expression in his face. “Kazunari is my partner we are completely compatible for each other…”

“So…In a couple of years…You won’t turn him aside?” Satoshi asked sharply and Jun gave a small growl from his throat and Nino watched him carefully. The muscles were flexing more than ever and he wished that there was something that he could do to help calm him down.

“No…Why would I? I marked Kazunari as mine when we were both children, I have waited until now the claim him and if…By some madness I did try to turn him aside I couldn’t,” Jun answered “I am ruled by a lot more things than you understand…I gave everything I am to Kazunari…”

“Why?”

“Excuse me?” Jun asked tilting his head slowly, as if he didn’t understand the question and Satoshi gave a strange gesture towards Nino and then asked again

“Why...Why Kazu…?”

“Because we are compatible…And when…” Jun stopped looking troubled and Nino realised that his mate didn’t want to draw attention to their Kits if he could help it. He was only just beginning to understand how hard it was for his mate that Satoshi was here in the nesting area, and Nino felt guilty that he was making Jun fight his nature. “And when he gave me the spark needed…The deal was complete…I am the dominant in this relationship but he holds all the cards…”

“I think that was too much information…” Satoshi sighed pulling a face as he heard that and Nino would have laughed but he was concerned about what that meant. The words were simple but the way Jun said them made them sound like that most important things that he had ever heard. He lifted an eye brow and folded his arms across his chest as his stared at his mate.

“What do you mean?” He had asked slowly and Jun gave a sigh stepping over to him he eyes still fixed on Satoshi as they went through the tri-colour change.

“Haven’t you noticed…You are more connected to the kits then I am…?” Jun asked coming to touch his arm. “And they are more connected to you...If…If you did decide to leave me they would follow you, I would be without a family unit…I’ve already turned my back on my own...”

“But wouldn’t they take you back?”

“…No…I went solo I broke the rules, they understood but…There’s no going back…But there’s more than that…Sirens are a very matriarchal, in our case it get a little complicated, but by refusing to take you to my family group and having our kits I sort of made you a new matriarch…”

“I’m a boy…” Nino said flatly knowing that his brother was listening and getting increasingly confused but he had known that Jun was still hiding something from him

“Yes…But…You’re the submissive…You’re the one that the kits respond to that automatically makes you the matriarch…” Jun pulled his eyes away from Satoshi for long enough to give him an almost shy apologetic smile his fingers brushing through his hair.

“Does that mean anything?” Nino asked softly he still wasn’t sure what this all meant and he was going to have a very long talk with his mate about it later but that question seemed the most pressing.

“No…That’s why I didn’t mention it before…It doesn’t really affect anything…As long as we just live and raise our kits in peace nobody should bother us…” Jun answered and Nino felt himself relax a little his eyes going back to Satoshi whose mouth had fallen open his head flicking from one to the other questions filling his eyes. Nino realised quickly that while they had been talking they had said the term kits more than once and although Satoshi wouldn’t understand the term he understood enough to look even more confused than he had before.

“Kazu, tell me what’s going on…Please…” Satoshi asked sinking down onto one of the hard steps and looking at his younger brother. He had made a lot of tough choices in his life but the biggest one was sending his baby brother away. Oh he was concerned, terrified even, that his brother was going to end up killed for buggery either by the crown or by some dirty bastard that would slit his throat in an ally somewhere. But now…His Kazu seemed to be involved in something worse than liking another man. Nino had somehow managed to get himself mated to something that nature and god said shouldn’t exist. A siren. Oh he was almost happy that the pretty boy with the flashing eyes said that he had given everything to Nino and that nobody would be able to come for them but he could sense the urgency and the worry that came into the siren’s eyes as he talked about matriarch’s and Kits. Both Nino and Jun had repeated that word a lot and Satoshi could hear the rush of love that came to his brother’s voice as he did so. “What is a kit…?”

“…I um…Our…Um…”

“Babies…The kits are our babies…” Jun cut in when Nino floundered not knowing what to say. Satoshi blinked, once and then twice positive that he had misheard something and he looked at his brother closely. Nino gave him a nervous half smile and then gave a pathetic, desperate little shrug a giggle rushing out of his mouth

“You’re going to be an uncle…” he said and Satoshi looked from the two men torn between laughing out loud and fainting when Nino added “Do you want to see them?”

Satoshi will understand in the end, I'm sure of it. Jun must be having a hard time holding back his instincts though!

Glad to hear you're ok, it's still pretty nasty to have a smashed window though, especially if it's snowy cold... Hope it gets fixed soon. D:

I wonder if Ohno's brain can handle all this new info? People usually fear what they don't understand and I would have been suprised that Nino didn't run away screaming when he found out about what Jun was and the kits but he was under the siren's call/spell then. Ohno is not and may need alot of help understanding this whole story. They may even have to erase this memory altogether huh? Poor Uncle Satoshi. Let's hope Jun doesn't take his head off if he gets near the eggs. : )

Ooh I see now, so Nino is like the mother that's why the kits will have a stronger connection to him :O
It's indeed a lot of information for Satoshi nee, but hey Satoshi, you're going to be an uncle! (I can't wait to know his reaction when seeing the kits *excited*
