krystalkatzficz“Are you ready for another gift?” Jun asked his husband who had been playing around with the bear since having breakfast a shy but beautiful smile on his face. The little roar had been heard several times now and Jun was completely surprised that his husband had been so taken with it even going so far as to give it the name Tibs. Kazu didn’t answer or even look up and Kazuko touched him arm lightly and then motioned with her head for him to follow to a secluded spot near the window.
“I think you have lost him for a while…I gave him a bear for a winter festival when he was around five or six…” Kazu’s mum told him softly and Jun prepared himself for the worst doubting that this was going to have a happy ending. Sure enough the woman’s pretty face turned into a frown as he looked over at her son who was showing his father the bear “…My husband…Ninomiya…He took it and threw it onto the fire saying that he was too old for such things...Kazu must be really happy right now…It was a cute present…”
“…I have more but my husband seems quite content in ignoring my suggestions that he open them…” Jun hummed as he heard the bear roar again and he heard his father gush about having somebody else to buy exotic stuffed creatures for. Kazuko chuckled nodding knowingly as she hummed;
“He’s probably embarrassed and things that you spent too much on him…Though…Did he give you the chain you are wearing?”
“Yes…” Jun answered allowing her to touch the twisted strand of different coloured gold that made up his pendant. “He said that it was a promise…”
“A promise knot…A traditional northern gift of a wife to her husband…” Kazuko hummed telling him what Kazu had told him last night “Though since your grandfather allowed same sex marriages the rules have changed a little…It is beautiful work…”
“I suspect that he requested it from Thomas…” Jun hummed deciding to keep up Kazu’s desire of getting the two together wondering if it was not just the gift that had embarrassed his husband but also their actions last night. They hadn’t talked about it that morning after all and he curse a little in his mind wishing that he had said at least a little something comforting or loving to him. Last night had been a big deal for them both, emotionally and physically but given how Kazu was it was more than likely possible that it had been even more intense. He looked at his husband who was looking at him almost coyly from in front of the fire as Kazuko whispered in surprise;
“Such delicate work…? I thought my old friend to be only a blacksmith…”
“He is also the silver and gold smith…I imagine that he was also the one that made your hair decoration Lady Kazuko…” Jun nodded with a smile reminding her of the gift that Kazu had brought for her “Father thinks him to be the best in the land…”
“I would have to agree…I should not be surprised…” She chuckled brightly a dimple that he had noticed on Kazu’s mouth appearing on her face in exactly the same place “…Even as a child my old friend had a delicate touch with a pencil…When he chose to deny his father and the church…I knew that he would go far…But now I have taken enough of your time, my son, you should go be with your husband on a day such is this…”
“Thank-you my lady Kazuko…” He breathed bowing low before moving to Kazu determined to do or say something to try and make things right between them again.
